keep or not

always trying

have had these shoes for a while, and probably only worn twice. Thought I would wear them a lot, but somehow they just never seem right. I am so over ballet flats, and find loafers and other flats are mostly a fit problem, ie small bunion, not staying on my low volume narrow heel feet. How to style them other than with skinnies and no socks? I only wear dresses and skirts for more dressy occasions and wear them with heels. although I think tights and short dresses or skirts would be cute, this is not my style.

My first thought would have been to wear them with skirts and dresses, but you have mentioned that that is not your style. I guess my inclination would be to give them away, since they don't really seem to fit with the outfits you feel happiest in.

I actually have a similar pair and have trouble figuring out what to wear them with too! Although I do like them a lot, so I keep holding onto them. I think I bought them assuming I'd wear them with dresses, but somehow I never do.

Could they maybe work with some kind of cropped pants or with slouchy menswear-style trousers for you?

I have a similar grey pair, but laceless slip ons, that I wear sockless with rolled boyfriend jeans. If you aren't wearing them, it may be time to wave goodbye.

Like Joy, I was thinking of perhaps pairing them with rolled BF jeans. Or with skinny jeans, or cigarette pants (essentially trousers or jeans that are more tapered at the ankle, and will show a bit of foot skin with the oxfords).

I am wearing my similar shoes with ankle pants, skinny jeans and rolled BF jeans. If you don't like them this way, then I'd probably move on and chalk it up as not your style. The ones I bought are my first in this oxford style and it has taken me some time to adjust my eyes, but I actually like the look quite a lot. I may try them with knee high stockings too now that it's cold out. I dont' wear skirts/dresses.

I love the look of these. I have similar ones too, that I never wear. I think its time to pass them along, in my case anyway. My 21 yr old daughter has a few in different colors. She wears them with everything. I will always opt for a heel.

I think it's the round toe and almost but not quite comfort-shoe look--very hard to work with skirts, for me, and so probably limited to slim jeans with or without a roll, and with the rest of the outfit more modern.

The problem I have to watch out for with oxfords is, the more I skew toward slim or tapered or pointy, the more I lose in the comfort zone. So the HEWI is the one that is somewhat refined but still comfortable, or one that is intentionally menswear but still not too huge looking.
And even once you find "the look" that seems right with your outfits, then as Suz pointed out, sometimes it is the brand's particular "last" that just suits your foot, and you know it when you put them on.
