She must have been in some incredibly painful personal hell to believe that she had no other choice than to end her life. Assuming it was mental illness as has been suggested, it's so sad and often so preventable as Staysfit said.
When someone commits suicide, they leave a trail of devastation. I realize that they are in a place where they can't see a way out, but it is such a heartbreak for those left behind. I wish she could've gotten the help she needed.
Very sad. Given the age of her daughter, and her own struggle with depression, I wonder if this was a case of depression mismanagement, as oppposed to her not seeking help. Patients are at a higher suicide risk when they start, switch, or stop medications, or alter dosage, and require close monitoring.
