Jumpsuit -- ridic or no?

One leg is sorta rolled up, the other not. It's so far out of my usual silhouette that I'm not sure whether this is easy casual slouchy trendy cute or... something else less desirable.

Brutal honesty please!

I like it but I don't LOVE it. Maybe the color? You definitely wear the silhouette well but to me this is neither casually cute nor sexy 70s glam, if that makes sense. It has a 90s look. It doesn't get you! I can definitely see you in A jumpsuit, with your long legs and svelte upper bod.

It looks as good (or as bad) as it would look on me -been there, done that. I wouldn't keep it. I like the idea of a jumpsuit, just not this jumpsuit.

I know this one is VERY red, but I like that it is more tapered on top and that it clinches at the waist.

I have an attraction to jumpsuits right now too, but the shorts versions.

I think the silhouette works on you but I don't like the color. The color makes it look drab.

Hmm, I just had a thought - in looking at the proportions as a separate top and pants (as defined by the waist), that's what is off to me. If the top were a top, or the bottom were pants, they wouldn't be PPP. But if you could find the elusive jumpsuit that WAS, it would work!

I can conceive of you in a jumpsuit but not this one. It is too wide at low hip or something, and the colour doesn't suit you.

Janet, I was lukewarm on this too, loving the idea and kinda the slouchy shape but not the whole thing. When you said simple black one, I had a vision of you in it with a modern silver or gold cuff and I just about fainted with the loveliness. I think yours is a brilliant idea! The glamour! The ease! The sophistication!

I think this particular jumpsuit is a little too shapeless and pajama-ey. I like the shape of the one Irene linked to though - it has a bit more structure and I think you'd look smashing in that silhouette.

One thing about jumpsuits: They are a PITA when you have to go to the bathroom, esp. in a public venue and esp. if you're in a rush. I wore one once to the symphony, and it had buttons at the cuffs and a belt that had to be undone. I was not popular with the line behind me. I just noticed the belt on this one. . . .

In addition to the squatting and sitting tests, be sure to stretch your arms to the sky. Forgot to do that on one jumpsuit purchase.

I don't think this is good enough for you. I do have a poison eye for jumpsuits, though. They just remind me of what I dress my DD in, but at least hers have snaps for easy diaper changes.

What they said. A jumpsuit is not off the table, but this one doesn't do for you what a fab jumpsuit could, and that's the only reason to wear one.

I'm with Thistle on jumpsuits- too much hassle in the loo. But- a black one on you I think would look great- needs height. I think you have probably already got a black one in mind by now.

Thanks, all, for confirming that a jumpsuit is not off the table for me, but this one isn't fab enough. The black and tan print does not translate well here, and contributes to a pajama-y vibe.

I love the cut of the one you linked to, Irene, but I don't think head to toe bright red is in the cards for me. Would love an easy, sophisticated black one though.

Donna, I thought about the bathroom thing while I was trying this on. I think the sleeveless cut, the simple buttons and tie belt make this one easy on and easy off. I would look for something similarly easy if I went for one. Fortunately, since my hysterectomy a few weeks ago, I'm not as susceptible to teeny-tiny bladder syndrome so much anymore!

No help here on finding the perfect jumpsuit for you...just chiming in to agree with others -- it is not as stylish as YOU are and the pattern of the fabric is neither elegant nor funky, putting it somewhere in the netherworld of innocuity (did I just make up a word???). Well I think you know what I mean...

I also think the color and baggy/unstructured quality are off, but there is definitely potential, with your long legs and overall great build. You could absolutely keep searching and find something you'd look great in. Wish I could be more specific....

Janet you can absolutely wear a jumpsuit! But as others have suggested this one may not be the one. I am not crazy about the pattern or colour. My suggestion would be a black, or at least a solid colour rather than a pattern. I think in a solid it come across as more sophisticated.

I'm not a fan of jumpsuits. Yes, they look super comfortable, but for someone as short as myself, I believe the look feels... too childlish. The links above shows two black ones I find... bearable. Well, I like the details on the colar/shoulders and if it were a top, I would buy it.

Agree with the above and thought I'd add that a silky V-neck black top and silky bottoms to match could fill in for a jumpsuit but give more versatility and ease in the restroom. Seems that this might be something Nieman Marcus or Bloomie's might offer but I'm not sure.

I don't think it's ridiculous, but I also don't think it's fabulous. It looks like something to lounge around in at home, in place of pajamas, or to pull over a swimsuit or dance leotards while you're warming up.
