Ho yay. Thank you for follow-up, Angie. Good to go.
Will order it and put it through its crispy paces with the less magical home mirror test.

I will have to decide if it is an opportunity to add a go-to casual jacket in "my" color, I think, since it IS more outdoorsy than a real blazer-substitute, though I would still plan to wear it as a light jacket to work when a true indoor topper is not required--which is most of the time.

Late on the train . . . has anyone seen, tried on, purchased the J Crew Mechanic Field Jacket? More expensive than the Downtown, no shiny buttons, drawstring I think. Softer fabric than the Downtown:

Sorry, no, havent seen IRL. I have not been looking for olive so have not tried a lot of field jackets available, which often are in olive or khaki.

I love the burgundy in the size small! It's super cute and the color is gorgeous and unexpected.

Yes it's outdoorsy but also has style, which is nice.

unfrumped, I thought of you today when I saw this burgundy field jacket at LL Bean. Did you decide to keep the J.Crew one?

Jenn, thanks so much for the heads-up. I do like that color and also the more subdued hardware. Also they have a plummy shade on sale that's a great color though not as "classic" as the Fig, and a pale mauvy color that looks fun for spring or milder winter days, to brighten things up. Oh my!
