Sadly, yes it is gear. I'm pretty sure that any garment that has "headphone eyelet at chest" in the description is automatically gear. I love this, and really wish it wasn't gear. Or that my workout gear was even close to this cool. But unless I get invited to an event where the dress code is 'athletic cocktail' I would pass on this.
It doesn't look like gear to me at all. Especially with the transparent top underneath. I guess you could judge it better if you can feel and see the fabric in person.
This does look like gear to me. My running jackets usually have a shiny reflective stripe or other detail to them. But it's a really cool jacket and I can see it with jeans for a casual look.
