Is this a loafer ???

Well, I ordered it anyway ! I am still laughing hysterically that I bought a shoe called Angieann thinking it was a "loafer" type shoe and it was nothing but a flat with a pointed toe !!! I thought, "what Karma...a fab shoe name Angie..."

I still have soooooo much to learn. Poor Angie. She really has tried. : )

I found these that are labeled "moccasins". I LOVE them. I don't care if they are not loafers ! LOL Would it be ok to lie and say that they are ?

I'm no expert. But it looks like a loafer to me. I grew up wearing penny loafers. Your shoe has the same profile as one of them.

Lol. They're moccasins, but I think moccasins count as loafers. I would describe the difference as the amount of "shaping" and "structure" - moccasins being a less structured shoe. Technically, someone correct me if I'm wrong, I think moccasins are supposed to be made from one piece of leather and don't have the additional "proper" sole piece.

Yeh, agree with rachylou, about mocassins,. seems they are calling some loafers that I thought were smoking flats too. this is all a little confusing. To me true loafers are just like the penny loafers, except some have different designs on the top, as opposed to the penny slots.

When searching for loafers try searching under flats too, as some on there are also called loafers. There are also penny loafers that are cut lower on top than the standard penny loafer look. Some cute in two tone are really cute.

They're a loafer, but the vamp is still a little low for loafers IMO. I very much prefer loafers that come higher on the foot (like the ones pictured in Angie's blog post), and not lower like a smoking slipper. It's a fine distinction, but it matters in my own head!
