Fashion and style is subjective -- Shannon, I think you just might sometimes be struck differently by an outfit. It doesn't mean you are seeing things "wrongly", just that you have a different view, your experiences and likes and life experiences tailor your perception just like everyone else.

I know for a fact that some of the combinations I really like are not favoured by the majority of people here. But who knows, maybe in a year or two, that will become the dominant paradigm. Style has to be edgy first before it percolates into mainstream, so it might just be that certain elements of that dress for example really speak to you, whereas others don't feel that connection or can't make the bridge between intent/inspiration and action/creation. Dressing is a performance which encodes all sorts of meaning, so you are just "hearing" it differently.

Wow Ceit - very well put!
