Is it wrong to mix navy and black?

I’m new to giving a crap about my clothes! For some reason I’ve always considered it a bad idea. Something about wearing 2 colors so similar yet different bothers me. But I got these cute black shoes and they go nicely with a particular pair of jeans and a sweater, both of which are dark blue. Since it’s just a pair of shoes, does it matter? I love them!

No. I think black&white shoes would go with practically anything.

Black and navy are both cool colours, so they will be OK together. However, this combo will often benefit from the addition of some white or another lighter colour.

I paired the navy jacket and navy/black top in the finds with some black trousers, and got lots of compliments on the look. It absolutely works, as long as your comfortable with it!

I used to think so....but now its considered very fashionable...

& IMO denim isn't really blue....its the ultimate neutral

Other people have a higher tolerance for this combo than me. I think it looks fine as long as the navy isn't too dark. When the navy is dark enough that it can be mistaken for black, I avoid combining it with black. It can look unintentional, like I got dressed in the dark.

Mixing black and navy is one of my favorite combinations. I feel alive wearing those two colors together. I see other women doing it all the time in real life too. Perhaps they feel just as alive?

It’s fine, especially if the navy is jeans. Perhaps if your entire outfit is navy and black, as others have said it might be nice with a colour or something lighter to pop against it. Thanks

Nah- did it once and did not go well.
I would agree with Jussie on jeans with black top but I don’t do black well since I stopped hair color. So- nope

I'm with Sara L. If the navy is really dark and really close to black, I don't like the effect--it looks mismatched. But when the navy is lighter in color, it can look good. But in general I don't care for the combination.
