YAY for me -- but that makes me a stereotypical Calgarian. For those who don't know, Calgary (pop 1.2 million, 4 hours north of Montana) holds one of the world's largest rodeos every July. And EVERYBODY goes cowboy for those 10 days, especially in the corporate world.
I was thinking I would like to do a blog and feature street style during the Stampede -- you get all kinds of western and quirky mixes: traditional cowboy, urban-modern cowboy, boho cowboy, goth cowboy, etc. Most people can pull off the look quite well, as it depends on how you choose your western pieces.
I've owned several pairs of boots over the years, many were thrift store finds when I was younger, but in our city they're a popular item so harder to find thrifting. I've also owned boots from Alberta Boot Company, they're a true western boot store /factory.
(their site isn't as impressive as the store is. http://www.albertaboot.com/).
I want to get a dull bronze pair of ropers with a wellington toe (between almond and round) to wear with longer skirts. (Stampede week temperatures are usually hot. I don't do shorts.) They obviously look good with bootcut denim too. The jeans tucked into your boots look is considered "tourist" here, but people still do it.
