My days of wearing high, pointy heels are in my rear view mirror. Thank goodness! I also can't wear completely flat, flexible sole footwear because of the excruciating discomfort it causes. I can wear a wedge heel, block heel or moderate platform with a maximum height of 2". There are certain brands that are reliably comfortable and I stick with all the time...Franco Sarto, Fly London, Naturalizer, Intentionally Blank, and M..Gemi (for flats).

I believe you live in Canada, as do I, so I thought I'd give you a recommendation for a brand that I have tried and that I know ships in Canada.

Vivaia makes some amazingly comfortable "heels" and heel alternatives. I've got about 6 pairs of their shoes, in various styles: mules, kitten heels, sling backs & flats. All have been beyond comfortable!

They're made from sustainable materials and are easy to clean.

I do still "do" heels, but only for dressy events. In the past year, I've worn black pumps and navy pumps to funerals, celebrations of life and our daughter's First Communion. If I didn't have those events, I have been wearing sneakers and fashion sneakers (even with dresses and skirts), occasionally a loafer or ballet flat. I have to re-think my footwear as I am heading back to the brick & mortar office once a week starting next week! I used to wear heels a lot at work, but I was driving and had a stash at my desk. Now I will be taking public transit and my desk will be a "hoteling" work space. I would love to wear flat sandals at work, but the buses are full with standing room only and I don't want to have my foot trod on. Also, with stairs, escalators and sometimes some gungy surfaces, I'm still thinking of wearing "commuting shoes", instead of wearing one pair all day, for safety and cleanliness. Bringing another pair of shoes just seems like something extra to worry about and carry.

hereforthecake, thanks for the Vivaia suggestion! I will check it out.

Hard pass from me regarding heels.

Did my time in the early 80s - now I have retreated to safety and comfort. At my (2nd) wedding in 2012, I wore a pair of silver Kenneth Cole wedge sandals, which I also wore to walk from the parking garage in Philadelphia to the vegan restaurant we ate at that evening to accommodate my sister.

Different days.

I try to keep at a kitten heel when possible. When I was ballroom dancing a Cuban heel was my go to.

Do wedges count? I love me some high wedges. And sporty ballet flats.
