I have been seeing wide-leg satin pants touted as trendy for about two years now, but I’ve never seen a person actually wearing them.

I have a pair of satin jogger/utility pants that I wore exactly once before losing some weight. Super cute, but alas (or gratefully?) too big now. I wandered through Nordstrom Rack last night after returning a dress (NEVER WANDER BACK THROUGH AFTER A RETURN!) and saw a rack of pastel satin pants, so funny you mention this. I have not seen on anyone In Real Life. But not for me I guess. I did pick up a pair of wide leg khaki Rag and Bone trousers though.

I can’t recall seeing anyone wearing them. They seem a little too precious for my lifestyle but I can see the appeal. But I do wonder about how practical they might be — prone to creasing, easy to stain, and would likely skew too dressy for daily wear.

I have a black satin pair of cargo trousers from the Kooples I bought years ago. I wore them once for an occasion at Christmas. I have them in my holding zone but don’t want to let them go as they are a perfect fit and feel nice to wear for dressy occasions.

Actually, I only just remembered, and they’re not wide legs they are straight, but my now oldest pair of pants are satin on the front with ponte at the back. I bought them in 2014 as what I called my “evening pants”, and think I wore them for the first time at my daughter’s 21st which was held in a marquee in our then empty back yard after clearing for but not yet building our new house. They were my most expensive pants at the time $207 but have had nearly 150 wears. They have sort of been superseded but I keep them as very occasionally they are just the thing. Worn twice last year and once this year so far.
They feel more dressy than usual black pants. You can see from the photo that the satin does wrinkle.

I am not seeing anyone in my locale wear them. If I wasn’t a mom and afraid of the torture they would take, I would be wearing them often. Old Navy had a glorious pair of satin wide leg track pants, in a gorgeous warm golden deep green. That was 2 years ago—and they were on clearance. They didn’t fit then and they were impractical satin. I wish I had bought them. They would fit now and be beautiful for church or dressing up for errands.

They’re my kind of trend. I just know that satin snags and can be precious as others have mentioned.

I bought satin pants at a ridiculously low price after they were worn once in a fashion show. They marked after a splashy hand washing or if worn out in the rain, and were a nightmare to iron - ruined if the steam iron burbled water. I had the same problem with a satin skirt, though I did get several wears from it. Seemed like it had to be laundered and carefully pressed after every wear.

Satin is now on my ‘no buy’ list.

Can’t say that I’ve seen satin pants out in the wild.
