I'm giving them another chance: SE Okala

I thought I hadn't really given them a fair chance. Everyone raves about them. I wore them around the shoe department for awhile, and they weren't bad. So I bought them again! They really are pretty shoes. Anyway, fingers crossed!

Some of you might be interested in this: the SA and I measured my size 10 (I know, gigantic, thank you) and the heel is 3 1/4 inches. We compared them to size 6, the smallest size they carry, and the heel on the size 6 was 3 inches.

My feet aren't wide, just long. The issue is really the height. I decided they weren't any less comfortable than the black heels I have, and they look better.

They are beautiful! I can see why you want to try these. The 3 1/4 " heels would give me pause though. [Hope you have strong ankles. ] And no -- your feet are not gigantic. I wear a size 12… Boats!

I have two pairs - one black, one black/white patterned, and I love them!

I have one pair and have worn them to four weddings . They saw a lot of dancing action and my feet did not complain at all .

I have these (in many renditions) in size 6.5 and the heel measures less than 3 inches (about 2 3/4s). There is no point in measuring the slant of the heel. You have to measure straight up to get an accurate measurement.

Angie, thanks! They really are pretty shoes. I wonder if this is common to have an increasing height for larger sizes. It makes sense aesthetically, to preserve the proportions.

For me, I can only wear them if I have close to zero walking to do...kill my big toes.

They look very nice indeed. Can't wait to see you in them.

I love my own pair in nude (size 6.5). And I do have very fussy feet, with a hallux rigidus big toe. Somehow they don't crush my toes, I think it's due in good part to the thick ankle strap which helps redistribute the weight and take off pressure from the toe box as I walk. I can teach in them (standing), spend a day at work, run small errands, walk the school corridors, but not run the streets for hours, nor venture myself into an afternoon-long shopping trip where I must carry all kinds of bags.

Goodness - size 10 is not abnormal anymore. I've been one since high school when you could barely find them in stores. I cannot get the okalas to work on my wider right foot, but found an earlier version that I can't find a photo of anymore (with studs on the straps) that work perfectly though. I think they have a little more toe coverage that doesn't cut off right at the widest part of my foot. I've been able to wear them all day at work so now I understand the love.

I tried it. Put them right back in the box. Did not fit my feet at all. But my ideal shoe size is probably a 5W, i.e. nonexistent in most shoes.

Krishnidoux, Catseye, I wore your shoe sizes in elementary school. When I see the different heel heights, I wish I wore a 6 again! My pedicurist is very tiny and wear size 2. It's a problem for her because she has to mail order every shoe she wants.

Jjsloane, you're absolutely right. But when I wore a 10 starting in 6th grade or so, I was very self conscious. Now I joke about my feet.
