I was looking for some shoes to wear for upcoming bar mitzvah/wedding/misc occasions and was resigning myself to nude pumps or peep toes, but these Valentino babies are calling me loudly. What do you think about the color and style for me? Not too much for day to evening occasion shoes? I would want to get years of.wear for this price! I've always admired this style but never dared try them on before. They are SO comfortable! The heel height is perfect. Maybe it's good I couldn't find the Old Gringo boots...

I have loved those peds from afar for quite some time and have no concerns over the colour or suitability, my only worry is the it shoe factor, will it date the shoe quicker? Or have they already passed from it to iconic?

They are beautiful - so beautiful in fact that I'm not sure they can go out of style - like great art. If they are comfortable to wear as well, and you can afford them, why not? I think they look fantastic on you.

I thought about the studs too, but honestly, I've always loved studded styles, and I was bored to tears with the lovely nude pumps I was trying on. The nude pumps were very attractive but didn't feel like "me." I put these on and they felt like me!

Those are amazing! I love them! The studs provide the rocker edge vibe that fits you so well and I think they are what would allow you to get a lot of wear out of them for years to come.

I tried those & would buy them in a heartbeat if I could justify the price. I don't know how much longevity they will have. Perhaps you should ask Angie that question.

I have loved the Rockstud pumps for years, and I especially love that particular pair! The nude color is too too fab!! BUY BUY BUY!!!!!

Well, they're in the trunk of my car! Eep!

The heel height is genius. Thank you, Valentino, for making a sexy shoe that doesn't rely on a sky-high heel! I had admired the higher version, but these are so wearable. I think these will fill the day-to-evening occasion hole in my shoe wardrobe very nicely, and I think they are quite season-spanning too, with the closed toe but open back.

At least four different SA's ran over while I was trying them on and swooned over them too. I was trying to keep my wits about me so I wasn't unduly influenced by them, but I think I'd already been won over.

The other wonderful thing about this shoe compared to most of the others I tried on is that about 85% of the pumps I try slip off my heels badly, even when the rest of the shoe fits properly. It's maddening. I love that these shoes don't have that concern at all.

Can't wait to wear them on Saturday! I think I'll be looking for excuses to wear them.

Gorgeous shoes and I think you ought to buy them since you are so obviously smitten.

BUT, in my opinion, a big part of the appeal is that those shoes are such a perfect fit with your current fashion sensibilities. Rationalizing their purchase by trying to convince yourself of their longevity, or iconic status (whatever that means), might cause buyer's regret in the future if you, or fashion, takes a different direction.

My advice is, if you can afford those beauties, buy them and wear them everything you have in your closet from your best party dress to your lunch-with-girlfriends jeans over the next couple of years. Those shoes will put a lift in your step and a smile on your face every time they come out of the closet. Then, if you, or fashion, moves on, you'll still smile every time you see them because of the lovely memories.

ETA: Just read that those babies are in the trunk of your car. YES!!!

JJ -- me too! I could see dressing these down with jeans, easily. I see the bloggers do it all the time.

I forgot to take a pic of my outfit today. I'm at the studio now, so maybe I'll get a chance before I leave. I'm wearing my new faded AG Tomboy jeans. They are decidedly slouchy on me. I can't believe I'm wearing them. I bought the same jeans in a darker wash, but this wash is stretching more with wear, so the slouch is pronounced, as you can get a hint of in the pictures.

I'm wearing them with a crisp white Brooks Brothers shirt, a thin metallic belt, and the Jeffrey Campbell Produce booties. Feeling quite trendy.
