Congratulations! I remember seeing your nice interview outfits, glad to know you got the position.
I think being a technical writer at a university gives you a nice variety of options with regard to the dress code - it is not too stuffy or overly formal so there is room for experimentation but at the same time you can feel free to dress up a bit. Enjoy shopping!
That's fantastic, MG! Big congratulations and hugs to you! It *is* hard to step away, but I'm with Suz and Ceit. Regroup for a bit, and see what you want to do. Hooray for a paycheck!
Awesome news!
Academia is really tough at the moment isn't it? I think you are smart to keep your options open. And if you can work on the odd publication from your thesis, you can still stay competitive in the market, while earning some $ !
Thank you friends! I spent over 2 hours shopping/trying on clothes this afternoon and came home with ... nothing! I know I would brought half that crap home previously - YLF has made me so much more discerning!
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you. I'm sure you are going to put together some great work looks. (On a completely unrelated note, I saw the photos of your home that you posted on E's thread and it is SO cool!)
The best way to get a job is to already have one. Don't give up on your dream job just yet. Network wisely while you are at the university. Don't give up doing whatever it is you need to do to build a CV for your dream museums job. And finally, Congrats!!
