I don't need any formal wear or evening gowns. And I would love for a chance to be able to really dress up

I don't have the sort of life where I need a lot of date night clothes-- I occasionally need some professional-looking cocktail wear or buisness-y stuff, love my athletic pursuits, etc. but rarely have an opportunity to wear "fun". "rock n roll" "sexy" or "romantic" clothing.

Elly, I'm smiling that you don't need "fun" clothing. I always feel like such a sourpuss when I admit that pretty much any clothing that could be described as "fun" makes me uneasy.

Party outfits, club wear:)

Evening gowns. A friend's husband is a political reporter, and she and he are invited to a formal party at the governor's mansion every year. She wears a long gown, and I enjoy the experience vicariously!

So true! This thread is funny because my closet is full of things that I never have the opportunity to wear, such as:

high heels

khakis

suits

skimpy shirts with open backs that I used to wear out dancing like ten years ago LOL

I don't own or need:
...khakis.
...flip flops (pet peeve of mine).
...stilletos.
....high end designer clothes of any type.

I don't need anything in a strict corporate suit level (business casual and lower is fine at work/home/church/most events. I don't go clubbing/specific sports so those are out as are most formal event things .Pretty much all I need for formalwear is a jewel tone dressy top ,a black top (in winter and summer weights) and dressy black semi-formal skirt and tux pants and I have what I need for the couple times a year when the choir is asked to dress that way (very dressy all black or with a jewel tone top) for a concert.

formal wear, corporate wear, anything glam or overly dressy ... in truth i don't "need" anything more than a few jeans and decent tops ... my life is apparently pretty simple!! great question!
