Edit: Here are a few I found. I love high waist flare jeans and I also think of mini dresses with boots. And big mod prints...or is that too 60s?

I want to play! But honestly I don't think I have any 70s inspired in my closet...I love the look of high waist wide legged pants with a tucked in shirt but I don't think it looks right on my short torso, pear shaped body.

I can't wait to see what some of you ladies come up with and get some more ideas!

I shan't wear wide legs so I'm sticking to boot cuts as far as wider hem widths go, but long pendants over turtle necks, turtle necks worn inside shirts, shaggy collars, huge checks, brown boots tucked into faded jeans and aviators - are just the start!

Btw, 70's fashion does not necessarily mean boho fashion.

I mentioned this in my response to your blog comment, but I have a feeling that I'm going to be watching this revival from the sidelines.

I honestly don’t know that I own a thing that could resemble 70s fashion. I’m thinking that wide legs, flares, mini dresses, tucked in shirts, not to mention turtlenecks are a terribly unflattering look for my body. I mean, I have a paisley knit top and a couple pairs of dark bootcut pants, and… I think that’s it.

Maybe this is a case of me being too literal and resistant to a new trend as usual – or the fact that I wasn’t alive during this decade the first time around – but I’m not really seeing a way that 70s fashion could translate to a style that is flattering on me personally.

I love turtlenecks, think they need to be ribbed or at least very fitted to be 70s inspired, and already have the pendants. Then maybe my GAP denim shirt over the turtleneck - and do I need to tuck the whole thing into a pair of bootcuts or wide leg denim, with a skinny belt? It seems like everything was tucked in the 70s.

I am thinking my new insanely high blue suede clogs are going to rock with this ensemble ...

Angie, that coat is amazing! And you are correct about this not needing to be Boho - my mom was completely stylish yet not remotely Boho in the 70s.

When I think of 70s, I think of Charlie's Angels, Farrah Fawcett in particular, hence vests, bell bottoms, super large collars.

Well, I don't have a plaid skirt (and plaid pants no longer fit), but I'll keep looking through my closet. Basically, all of my skirts are just-above-knee-length pencil skirts at this point, even my casual denim skirt (the Jag one from the YLF store.) If I did have a plaid skirt, I'd definitely try your suggestion because it sounds cute.
I'm okay sitting this one out and continuing to wear my pencil skirts, knee high boots, and knitwear in a more flattering-to-me 60s-inspired style. I imagine Joan Holloway probably did the same thing once 70s fashion hit the presses.

Yes, Bella! These are very menswear-inspired looks (i.e. the dreaded 3-piece leisure suit). My mom never would have worn something this masculine in the 70s, but she would have worn the shirts with the big collars, maybe with high-waisted jeans and a sweater vest.

Oh, I used to love Jacqueline Smith. She was my favorite Angel and so elegant ... thanks for the photo!

(Or another thought: perhaps by the time I'm done with my SYC project, 70s inspired styles will have shown up in a more subtle way that actually would look good on my body. It's happened before with skinny jeans, so you never know.)

I am in too! Already have a couple of pairs of appropriate jeans/pants, and am looking through this thread for inspiration on how to wear them. I have a tons of turtlenecks too, and love tucking tops into high waisted bottoms. Hmm, seems like this look was made for me. I should get a large pendant necklace though. Are there any particular ones that scream seventies, or any large pendant will do?
