I bought Doc Martens and now I'm scared.

Hello, I'm new to the forum and so far, this has been the only pro-Doc Marten place on the web. I'm moving to Scotland before New Years and I'm staying through the winter months so I needed some boots.

The other chic motorcycle boots in the store looked really cute but when I reached for the Doc Martens something inside me clicked. I've always wanted a pair but I'm afraid they are too...well, masculine. I would definitely wear them tucked in to my jeans with my black plaid jacket and a girlie scarf but I still feel really heavy in them. My mom hates them, my boyfriend doesn't like the military look on women but I like the weather proof aspect for that Scottish weather.

My other problem is that most of my clothes are neutrals/browns/olive. I have a plaid black jacket and a dark gray wool coat. Is it silly that I don't really have that much to go with them? I'm afraid I won't look very feminine or that Doc Martens won't be very fashionable in Glasgow either. :/

I don't know what to do! What do you guys think of Doc Martens? I'll post a picture as soon as I find my camera.

I was in Scotland this last fall and saw Docs all over the place. You will be right in style and you will also find them to be very practical in the weather there.

We were in Edinburgh and saw every kind and style of boot known to man and it was only fall---- not even winter yet!

I think if you wear something somewhat feminine on top you will be fine.

What color Docs did you get? I think there are great examples of how to pair docs to cut the "military" edge on the forum. The ladies look fab in them. Check out some of the pictures in these threads.

I have recently gotten my Docs ( 20-eyelet silver ones) and I absolutely adore them! I have been getting quite a lot of compliments on them too. Which ones ( height and color) do you have? It would help if you posted a photo of yourself wearing them.

I find them both very comfy and sturdy on the one side, but cool and edgy on the other. I have been wearing mine with skinny jeans tucked in but also plan to wear them with skirts and dresses.

If you look around here there are quite a few photos of different YLF ladies wearing them and the don't look masculine at all.

Sorry, I forgot to mention they are black 20 eyelets. I dig 'em but I just don't feel feminine. I'm working on getting a pic.

I don't really feel comfortable putting my face here yet but this is the jacket I would wear most of the time...

Don't worry about your face, I have been posting here for a long time but don't post my face either. It's a matter of personal preference.

you look so good! i know what you mean about being scared - i love the look, but i don't think i'm ready to take the plunge quite yet. it helps not to have much money at the moment of course - christmas presents really cleaned me out

As you know, I bought the boots for Scotland. Well, I couldn't be happier about buying them. I found out from my boyfriend (who is there now) that his "rugged" Timberland boots have been slipping all over the icy roads. So, I'm definitely keeping my Docs!

Today at the library I saw a lady wearing silver 14-eyelet Docs. She was wearing a knit flaired skirt and tights with a subtle argyle pattern. She didn't look masculine at all. I wanted to compliment her, but didn't want to chase her down the street.
