How would you style this dress?

In my hunt for red print dresses I found this one that is not exactly what I had in mind but I really like it, so I'm going to order it to try. I would probably have to shorten it and would want to do that in a way to keep the ruffle. It would push me in bold and trendy direction but If it works it could be fab.

It seems like a summer dress, and mu original styling idea for a red print dress is with a light wash denim jacket and blue sandals.

Can any of you think of ways to style it for cooler months? I could imagine it with a darker denim jacket or my tan faux leather one...maybe with cognac/tan booties? I could even imagine it with a beige turtleneck underneath...

I love the dress and I love your ideas for carrying it into the cooler weather- how smart are you. Well done on choice of dresss for now and for planning ahead. The multi color really does give you lots of options for toppers.

Lovely dress and I like your styling ideas. My worry is that it is not petite. I have a hard time with this style of top in a regular size dress (too much torso length in regular), but perhaps that’s not something that is a struggle for you?

Toban, I DO share your short waisted proportions and have a lot of fit issues because of it so I know exactly what you mean. I just fell in love with this dress and kept thinking about it so I'm willing to take a chance, knowing it might not work. I have tried on things by this brand at TJMaxx and they often do fit ok. I ordered two sizes, one that I expect would be right and one size down. I often do my own alterations, common ones I do are to take in the shoulder seam (to shorten the torso) and shortening the hem, although the possibility of either very much depends on how the dress is constructed. Fingers crossed!

I really like the dress. I think the light denim and blue shoes would be great with it. Do you have a leather jacket? If so, match up some shoes or booties with it.

Gorgeous dress, but I'm concerned about all that's going on with it , considering your petite size. The shoulder ties, waist tie, ruffle etc...... I might be imagining something that's not there though - so feel free to ignore me And yes to taller boots with a darker denim jacket or denim blazer, or even a navy knit wrap.

Jaileen thanks, and yes I showed a find above for a faux leather jacket that might work with it, plus cognac booties I own and lighter tan ones I don't own but do like.

Angie good idea/ Maybe this dress, if it works out, would inspire me to expand my "capsule" of tall boots to include something other than one pair in black.

LisaP you are absolutely right, the dress might work out to be way too busy, or it might not fit at all. I'm taking a chance.
