i find this fascinating. My laundry basket is overflowing currently because we did no laundry yesterday. One set of sheets, two sets gym gear, two sets tennis gear, plus various others. Maybe I need a larger basket.

HAHAHAHA @ Sal

I know we can go for two weeks without laundry because of travel. But I do laundry every few days. I am on top of it. I'm a control and neat freak - for better or for worse.

Ha! Fun question! Guessing from what is left in my underwear drawer, 4-5 weeks.

In case anyone is wondering: Yes, I also have a hamper problem. I have *like* ten. And children over 8 are required to do their own... and cook dinner once a week... my mum made me and I follow in her cruel ways...

LOL! Laughing at Rachy’s comment because my house rules were that children over 8 did their own laundry also! I only have 4 hampers, two were pilfered by my “children” when they left for college.....

The truth is that my laundry machine runs daily. I do a minimum of two loads a day given that both DH and I exercise 6 days per week. There are towels, sheets, gym clothes, and then the rest of our stuff! If one of my kids visit, they seem to bring their laundry with them since they like to avoid paying in the laundromat or dorm, whichever applies.

I could get by for a month, does not mean that I do go a month!

I know from travelling that I CAN go for more than two weeks without laundy--well, actually for more than three weeks if I am willing to handwash some of the items I would run out of first: bras, other underwear, and hosiery. I must admit, however, that I don't enjoy having to handwash items, and particularly not on travels.

At home, I like to do some laundry at least once a week.

My washer and dryer are INSTALLED! Thanks for keeping me entertained while I waited. Like many of you, I generally do a load of laundry daily, so it's been hard not having a machine since we moved into the new house!

Today and tomorrow will be catch-up days, and then, hopefully, back to the regular routine. Who knew I'd be so happy to be washing clothes?

Yay Jenn!!
I do laundry on holiday if I can....mostly we stay in places where this is possible but maybe that is because I am obsessed with doing it. I need to detox and see if I can get over the habit.

Yay, Jenn!! (And good grief, too.)

I can go 2 weeks, but never, ever do except when travelling. It's undies and socks and sometimes bottoms i run low on. I could go longer for simply tops as a rule.

When we bought our house three decades or so ago, the first thing I wanted was a washer and dryer, even before other furniture. . .

We have a 90+ year old toilet and a Speed Queen top load washer that I love, so we reuse my wash rinse water to flush the toilet and mitigate all the water that both use in our chronically drought ridden state. To maintain the balance of water to flush and empty buckets for a needed wash, I *need* to do a full load between every two to four five days.

As to *need* laundry-wise: That would probably be exercise gear. Now that I bought DH more shirts and the like which go in the Delicate load, I am less likely to run out before it is time for a full load. I also tend to run out of my white Thorlos; next time there's a big sale I will buy a few more pair so that I always have a full load when I need them.

Ok Donna: that’s true Bay Area

On that note: my mum told me I must clean the rain gutters today. Mum has a large wheeled trash can that will be positioned under them. Then mum will take the old milk containers, dip into said can, and water the garden. Lol.

I read that and was reminded of our previous washer/dryer that broke down so many times until I finally replaced them. 3 weeks to install the new one was torture! I ended up doing a few loads at the local laundromat.
I can personally go 14 days but other members of my household do not have enough athletic clothing to last that long. My dd plays quite a bit of hockey and my dh bikes, does yoga etc. They can only last about 4 days.

Hmm, I could probably go a little over a week, but 2 would be pushing it ... but in actuality, I do the family laundry religiously (ha!) on Sundays

Good lord, I could probably get 2-3 weeks before towels and workout gear forced me. But I am a once-a-week laundry person. I don’t like having a huge mountain of laundry to deal with, and there is no reason to do it more often than once a week in my small household.

Just a week for me!

About ten days, although I usually do laundry more often than that. More than ten days, and I’ll need to buy socks and underwear.

I don't let it get to that point. But probably 10 days or so for underwear and workout stuff and a very long time for everything else.

One week - due to sports kit, 2 weeks regular clothes, but would run out of underwear, otherwise could go longer.

I do laundry every other day, mostly sports kit and towels, rounded out with whatever needs washing and is the right colour (darks/lights.)

When we moved in 2014 and the W/D were on order, we had to do a little shopping to make it to D-day.

I would run out of things I WANT to wear long before I ran out of actual things to wear LOL (I've been grumpy lately, obviously)

We went to the laundromat twice during our 4.5 week wait for the washer to come in. It never occurred to me to just buy more underwear!

Probably about a month. I love my undies from Costco so I have a big stash. Not counting Karate uniforms, I usually do laundry every 2 weeks.

About 5 to 7 days, led by my undies. I do washing once or twice a week.

DH does his own and DS can do his own if needed but I like to do it for him!! He keeps a well organised wardrobe, clearly labelled and clear routines - so for me it is easy and enjoyable - eek!

Yay for the new washer - 4.5 weeks is a long time without a washer.

Now I wish I’d suggested buying more! I nearly did, but stopped because I thought that was too obvious and that you were holding out because of your usual insistence on a small wardrobe!

Fashintern, it takes me roughly as long to do a load at the laundromat as it would to go shopping, and my underwear drawer is full as is, so I definitely wouldn’t have done that even if I’d thought of it!

I could probably go quite a while... but I honestly have no idea. The bottleneck would depend on the season I suspect. At this time of year I'd run out of those little sockie things that I wear with sneakers and loafers, while it's still ankle baring season (sorry Winnipeggers). I do laundry several times a week, as my DH exercises a ton, and my DD's find it easier to put their clothes in the bin than away... <<roll eyes>>

I actually enjoy it. Almost instant gratification. Folding is my excuse to watch tv, and I've been known to say "nope, can't watch XX because I have no laundry to fold".

"Laundry is my life"

Bras for one week if not sweating. More underwear. Clothing for much longer if necessary, depending on the weather.

I do laundry - wait for it - 6 times a year! Yep, I have that much underwear. Also, if my clothes are not soiled and they pass the sniff test, they get hung up overnight and then they go right back in the closet or dresser. I live in a co-op and when I do laundry, I take my hamper down to the basement and use 6-8 washers. Bonus: I have a husband who asks, "Do you want me to wash anything for you? I'm doing laundry." And like Rachylou, it's HGTV when I'm folding!

About a week. Exercise gear and undies (I have more than 7, but sometimes use multiples in a day). My kids also do their own washing and I frequently hear them saying they can't go out on the weekend because all their clothes are in the process of being washed!

Approx 3 weeks, I always keep enough undies, bras and socks for this reason!
