No taxes on clothes and shoes in New Jersey...ever. (We get the occasional no sales tax weekend up in Massachusetts, once or twice a year.)

I used to live there. But was not into shopping at all then.

Oooh, good to know. Although when J. lived in north Jersey, every time I went there, we just spent all our time in NYC. =P

Must remember this for the Hypothetical Future Purchase of the Hypothetical Future Burberry. Was thinking I was out of luck as New Hampshire does not have a Burberry store, but NJ probably has several.

Hmm, when I lived in MA there was no tax on clothing under $175. Granted, at that time, I was unable to purchase anything over that price point, so I never ran into a situation where I paid tax on clothing. I guess now that amount doesn't go very far!

Delaware is also no sales tax on anything. I used to live there, and it was amazing! Very, very sad when we moved to an area with 9% sales tax.

Minnesota also has no sales tax on clothing and we have Mall of America here(with over 500 shops and indoor amusement parks, aquarium and movies.)

i also thought that in Mass there was no sales tax on items under $175, and that if you bought something over $175, the tax was only on the dollars above $175. (i thought it was actually called a luxuary tax)

No Tax on necessities in PA. That means no tax on clothes, shoes or food.
There is tax on handbags though!! Boo!! Handbags ARE a necessity!!

I live in Ontario, and girlfriends drive 3+ hrs to PA for shopping. Ontario has 13%

It's always a fun weekend with some different choice of stores then we have.

I suffered sticker shock when I moved from PA to AR where we have 8.5% sales tax. Our income tax is much higher too. But I can buy wine and beer at the grocery store

I live in Portland with no sales tax on anything. My friends love to shop when they stay with me! And even better, when I go to Washington, they extend reciprocity, so I can buy things in Seattle without paying sales tax there either. I have to pay state income tax, though, which Washington doesn't have.
