I have 6 feet of hanging space and I use every inch of it.

Sheesh I can't get over how organized all your closets are!! I haven't measured mine, but my husband and I share a good sized walk-in closet; I get the long wall, he gets the short We also have a dresser that we share in which I get the top 3 drawers and hubby gets the bottom 2. His side is a little wider than the dresser #3 (poor guy, I take all the room!) and you can kind of see how few things he has hanging up in the reflection on the humidor heh. Jewelry and non-silk scarves kept elsewhere (jewelry in an armoire out in the bedroom, scarves behind the door leading out of the bedroom and into my hobby room, photo #4).

Our house was built in the 1840s and restored 40 years ago. We're lucky that the previous owners thought to put in modern closets, but I'd still like more storage space. We have two closets in the master bedroom: one is 8.5' by 2' and the other is 5.5' by 2'. I use both of them (one for winter and the other for summer).

DH uses one of our guest rooms as his office and dressing space, so he uses the closets in that room.

I'm positively in stitches seeing what is considered "small" here.

No photos yet, as I have *just* moved into my new place this week. I have a full size standard (not walk in) closet with a built in shelf above it (currently the built in shelf is unused, and will probably be reserved for storage of suitcases or things I don't need to use very often.) Below the clothes that are hanging in my closet I have my shoes on a shelf in boxes, and my boots are stood up in boot stands on top of the shelf. I have one hanging shoe rack in the closet that I keep my flats stored in.
Next to the shoe rack I have a plastic 3-drawer organizer that I keep camisoles, tights, and socks stored in. On top of this organizer, I have several medium-sized boxes that house folded scarves of different sizes/shapes, and one has my belts coiled around one another.

My remaining (non-hanging) clothes are in a 5-drawer Ikea dresser. I also have a small side table that I keep my jewelry trees/armoire on, and I have a wooden tie rack that I nail to the wall to hang my long necklaces on. I have a small, square, velvet-covered ottoman under the side table that I pull out to sit down on while I'm pulling on my boots. I keep fuzzy socks & slippers stored inside the ottoman.
There is a second slightly less wide but deeper closet in our master bedroom that my boyfriend has for his clothes. We're relishing in the increased storage space compared to what I had in my own one-bedroom unit! The main disadvantage is that they are all sliding door style closets, so I can only access half of my closet at a time.

I have two standard sized closets that have been 'California Closet'ed. One is in the master bedroom and the other in the guest room (guests have to live out of their suitcase!) There is a small walk-in closet but my guy uses it - it's actually in the master bathroom, which I find awkward, so I didn't fight for it. It's bigger than one of my standard closets but not as big as my two closets put together. I use the guest room closet mostly for shoes and off season storage, and my guy keeps about half of his shoes in his walk-in. We have a tall bookshelf (72" high, 36" wide) in the laundry room that we both have filled with shoes, plus using the floor space in the foyer coat closet. He loves fashion nearly as much as I do, and has more shoes than most of the women I know!

My wardrobe is about 5ft in length and I have a chest of drawers too. Shoes are stored in plastic boxes in the bottom of 1 side boots in the other. I have a mirrored cabinet 'thing' for jewellery and scarfs and belts live on hangers on the back of the door x

Louise, I LOVE your jewelry armoire! How perfect - I like that all of your jewelry is in view.

Mine is a very small jewelry armoire, but is is pretty and was a gift from my boyfriend's parents.

I have about 3 1/2 feet of rail to myself (DH has somewhat more) plus I use about 11/2 feet of his in those hanging drawers that attach to the rail. It is plenty of hanging space.
Under half my rail I have a 4 drawer chest of drawers. In the main bedroom I have a 6 drawer tall chest of drawers of which I use 4 of the drawers. DH uses his bedside table 2 drawer Unit for underwear and socks but I don't use mine for clothing.

We have quite enough space - some of my drawers and the hanging thing are not full.
The area above the rail we use for the Christmas tree and decorations, suitcases, archive clothes etc.

We have a rack in the front hall way that sometimes contains some of our coats and there are the odd coat stashed away in our guest room and in the girls' rooms.
