Velvetychocolate, I'm glad you wrote this post, because I'm one of the ones who doesn't post pictures! But I like to participate -- some weeks a lot, some weeks not at all. I've already made my excuses (for me the biggest issue is the amount of time it would consume) but it's good to have reassurance that thoughtful comments are still welcome despite my less-than-complete participation in the forum.

I'm like you in that one day I might start posting WIW, because there's been many a time when I've had a quick question that would have been easily answered if you all had a photo to look at. You know what they say a picture is worth, and all that.

Does your camera have a self timer? I usually put it on the kitchen table or prop it up on a book, and stand about 8-10 feet away. That seems to give the most accurate perspective. Even if you don't post the pictures here it is helpful to have them for further reflection and future reference.

Modgrl -- Great info! I haven't even considered the self-timer thingy (not a technie)!

It CAN be a learning curve to get photos. I'm still in the midst of that learning curve myself. For whatever reason, Modgrl's method doesn't seem to work for me (the camera jiggles too much and the pics come out blurry if I set it on the counter) and we don't own a tripod, so I have to rely on my daughter or sometimes hubby to take them. And we don't have anywhere with a neutral background or very good lighting. But I just do the best I can and I have still found it super helpful. I rarely get photos on the day I'm actually wearing the outfit, so sometimes we'll take an hour on the weekend and I will put on a couple of the week's outfits and have my daughter snap lots of pics; I throw out the really bad ones (there are lots of those). But just as people here are gentle in their critiques of outfits, I find they are also kind and helpful with photo shoot ideas! So bit by bit we all improve.
