High-shaft booties? - YouLookFab Forum

I know, Steve Madden and 9 West are not necessarily brands you associate with comfort or longevity - so it might be risky. But I have a gift card I can use at Lord & Taylor and I'd like to possibly try a pair of these just in case they work out. Higher shaft booties have been a wish list item of mine for a while. Thoughts on these? (Descriptions put the blue heel at 2.5" which is perfect for me; the others are 3" which is doable IF the boot is well made and comfy.)

ETA: I've decided against all of these for now. What I really need to keep looking for needs to tick all of these boxes:

- Daytime (heel 2" max) (comfortable to walk in, wear for hours)

- High shaft

- Interesting color (maybe olive or navy) OR fabrication OR detail

I'll keep looking.....

They're cute! And the heels are high--your feet must be younger than mine.

I also try to buy the best-quality shoes I can afford, but there are times it can make sense to relax a bit. Comfort is non-negotiable. But if that's covered, then a cheap pair can get you a look you want (or want to experiment with) and hopefully last you until the budget is there for your forever boots (love that phrase of unfrumped's!).

May be I would go for a pair of sitting boots - so for me, that would mean the navy ones, for saying wearing with jeans when out in the evening, assuming I don't have to walk too far. Or the snake skin ones. The pink are pretty though. Ahh, too much choice!

I love the navy and the snakeskin -- I'd happily wear them. The pink are a great color, but I'd prefer them without the strap -- sleeker.

(I do wince a bit, though, at the idea that $120 shoes are "cheap" and should be apologized for.)

Liz - it's not really the price. It's the brand: Steve Madden. I don't really think of that brand as quality. I will edit the post to explain. Thanks for pointing that out.

And I'm glad that you like the blue ones, Jane and Liz: they're a little different but for some reason I really like them!

by comfort brands I assume you mean brands like Naot or such. The ones some on here associate with comfort generally fall off my feet. For me it is the style, heel height. etc. that make for comfort. the pointy toe and heel height of all these are similar. If this style is outside your comfort zone, then this type would not have the comfort level at any price. As for longevity and wear it depends on the sole thickness, material they are made of, construction and factors like that are more important than price. These are all dressier looking, so I would consider their purchase would be like buying a pair of heeled pumps or other dressy shoes. they are all very pretty.

Funny - the blue ones look they have a much higher heel than the other style ( I won’t click on them right now as it seems to be a slow process on my phone using public wifi I actually find both of those brands good for me - comfy and of decent quality considering the price ( which for me is a lot higher though ) . I think you can’t go wrong with either of these !

And hey - I’m happy when I can find decent boots for that price - I get it .

I agree with Lisa - the blue ones look higher than 3 inches, regardless of the description. As far as color goes, I like all but the black ones. Black is kind of ordinary. The snake ones are interesting, I love blue, and of course pink is my new crush. I can wear a 2.5 heel, but 3 is too tall for me.

ETA: my most comfortable boots have been Born. I highly recommend.

Somehow my reply got lost! I think you're right, Lisa and Jaileen. Those blue ones look really high. Oh well, I think I need to wait for now. Nothing of these are quite right - too high all around, I think.

I like the snakeskin and the black. With Steve Madden, my second most worn booties ever are that brand, the 2013 gold studs ones bought at DSW in San Francisco. I think they cost about $90 US, not leather but look like they are. Really comfy and worn 50 times!

I would watch for whether they are stiff or rub at the ankle when you walk. That is often the most difficult fit issue I have with a higher shaft Bootie. Good luck finding what you are looking for. I have two pairs, one is red, and one is burgundy, or maybe it’s plum.......

Tammyw, thanks for the Free People tip! I read the reviews and everybody loved them but some complained that they're too snug in the ankle. Good news for the narrow-ankle contintent!

Laura G - they aren't snug in the ankle AT ALL for me. I have small ankles, but definitely not a concern there. I really love them. I have them in black and considering a second color. One of my favorite bloggers turned me onto them and they are truly fab!

Agreed Laura! Good luck I looooove mine and though I've hardly worn them (we are in S. California and it's been 80-100 lately, it's starting to finally cool down and I am practically giddy about being able to wear them more!!

Thx. They're just calling them 'Anthropologie Chelsea Boots' & 'imported' so no individual maker is identified but with the sale price of like $119 down from $198 and the additional discount they had, figured they were worth a try. I really like the leather/velvet/plaid and the heel being 2.5" because 3" is difficult for me.

I just looked at them on the Anthro site. They are AWESOME. Love them, jlpp!!! Hope you posted them in a WIW soon!

When they arrive will definitely try a wiw.
