Ok ladies, thank you for your patience with my previous post. I do hope that these pics will give you a better sense of the trench I found.
Back story: I have long wanted a dark blue, longer, single-breasted trench with some military detailing. It was the very essence of a HEWI - absolutely impossible to find in an iteration that ticked all those boxes. Even this coat didn't quite do so initially. The store carried tons of coats, but the single-breasted style lacked all details while the one with the military detailing and the proper length was double-breasted (not ideal for busty me) with overly high belt loops. Enter the brilliant sales associate who pointed out that this store made its own coats and could easily combine the elments I wanted into one garment. And so, voilà.
My questions are as follows:
1. Does this work? Colour? Fit? Length? In these images I'm wearing it over a midi-length lounging dress I hang out in around the apartment, which is about as long as my day dresses would get. And would this length still look ok with pants and/orknee-high or otk boots?
2. Should I switch out the buttons for something with a little more punch like pewter or silver, or are self-colour buttons the way to go in this case?
3. The hood is detachable. Does it ruin the lines of the coat or look decent enough for every-day wear? I would take it off for dressier occasions.
4. I see there is an extra panel of detail on the left shoulder but not on the right. Is that a thing with trenches in general?
5. The belt doesn't currently stay fastened if I cinch it tighter than this, which would normally be my preference. Does it look alright when it's tied more loosely?
Thank you in advance for all feedback! So hoping I can put this particularly trench dream to bed once and for all, but I will keep looking if that is the YLF decree.
