I overdid it on stripes last year, so I've turned against them this year. I plan on keeping a couple to wear under jackets or V-necks in winter.

I also realize that with my changing body getting rounder and rounder, stripes aren't so flattering as they were a few years ago. I spotted myself outdoors on one of our Ring cameras yesterday--in navy and white stripes and, "Oh my!" I can't wear that tee in public by itself!

My long sleeve head on Breton type t shirts get steady wear in spring and early summer because when I switch to two items of clothing (pants and top) from three (sweater or jacket), I feel like I need a little extra and I tire quickly of other prints. I thrashed around trying to find an alternative but defaulted quite happily. I totally enjoy preppy items of good quality and the challenge of blending them into a mainstream look.

I just got some Eileen Fisher, short sleeve striped tops that are more subtle and I love them, especially the linen one. My style preferences shift during the seasons and I just go with it.

Gorgeous pic! So sweet:)

You look great in stripes Helena- but I know the feeling. I overdosed on them about 5-10 years ago and then took a break and now have just a few pieces.

I could see you in polka dots?

I've had that from time to time. But don't get rid of your striped items if they fit and are good quality! In my experience I usually just need a break, or find a new way to wear my items. I haven't worn any stripes for a while, but I just bought two new Breton stripes in navy/white and black/pink on holiday. They're a replacement for my old ones which are a bit too small. Those will go to my sister, she loves them (they're hard to wear out, they're good quality made in Britany). I don't like them for everyday, but I love them on some days!

I would tread gently and carefully. May be it is a tiny adjustment for this summer and some fresh tops will bring about a small change. As Angie says, listen to your feelings.

It is a gorgeous photo!

What an adorable pic!

I have this happen three times a year. During the cooler months that pass for winter around here, I am really into my greys and navy blues and blacks and other dark colors. Once it starts heating up, I get in the mood for brighter colors; until it gets stupid hot, at which point I gravitate towards colors that don't show dirt and sweat so badly.

I have learned the hard way: do NOT get rid of the bright colors when I'm not feeling them any more because I WILL want them again next year.

Sorry i don't have any real answers, but i totally understand the feeling.

I think styles and tastes change, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. See this as an opportunity to try new clothing and find a new style you like, shopping for that should be fun

If I weren’t on my phone, I’d go dig out Angie’s blog post from a couple years ago on sudden style changes. There were quite a few people who commented on waking up one day and simply not liking x anymore, or suddenly being into y. Do you remember that one? Could be a good read for you right now.

This is the post I mentioned https://youlookfab.com/2017/12.....-overnight

You didn't comment, so maybe you didn't see it. Hope it's helpful, or at least comforting!
