budget <200 us dollars.
max heel height: 2 inches

I am kinda clueless in this category.

I currently have:
tall boots: blondo vergara in black, quilted look nude, tan boots
booties causal: grey, reports marks in taupe, mia black with studs on cap, tignanello tough looking ankle boots/booties. red sort of sress flat booties.

I've seen a ton of beautiful Sam Edelman ones in that price range on Zappos. Heel height is the key, though.

Why do shoe manufacturers all think that we want to buy 4 inch heels right now? Obviously they've never tried to walk in them.

These are on their way to me from Zappos. They are 2 1/2 inch heels and they come in chocolate brownt too...

Sona, I'm in search for the perfect taupe/light tan/nude booties right now, so I've been ordering a bunch and will be posting them soon. I realized earlier this week when I posted about my round toe booties that I feel like a dressy booty has to have a pointy or almond toe and heels for me. Round toes don't work as well for me. That's just what my eye likes, though. The general forum consensus was love for the round toe.

Oh, and there are these lovelies in black or olive for $139 (screaming deal for Fluevogs):

I have this line and could have gone up a half size from my normal size because I have wide feet. If you have normal or narrow feet, then these would probably be a little roomy on you.

The suede is a little textured, but it looks beautiful in real life. Very rich, and just a smidge tough.

love those fluevogs in black but the smallest size they have left is 10.5.

If you really like them and you could do the 2 1/2 inch heel, it may be worth a call or email to them to inquire about fit.

I wear anything from 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 in Fluevogs, but am almost always a 9 in every other shoe maker's shoes. I've got Bellevues booties and I took a 9 because that's what they had locally (and I'm impatient), but a 9 1/2 would have been better. But I also have wide feet.

That extra inch of heel height may kill them for you too. I thought mine were very comfortable and shopped all day with them, but I don't have any foot problems to contend with.

Una if they dont work out the nine west sosie's in black that you picked might be my next choice.

those fluevogs are pretty nice too but more avant garde I think than a first pair of dress booties should be!

Oooh those are lovely!

Your avant-garde comment really rung true to me. So smart! I think it is a great idea not to try out a new item and an avant-garde interpretation all in one item, and I'm going to file that away for my future shopping reference. It's hard enough to integrate a new concept (like an ankle boot!) into your wardrobe, let alone one that pushes your aesthetic! If you really really really love it, then it'll probably work. If you don't, then it's a roll of the dice. Thanks, Sona! I learned something today.
