Help me decode my style aspirations via my Pinterest board

If anyone has a few moments and cares to look, can you take a gander at my Pinterest board and help me out with my style aspirations. I've been slowly pinning away things I love, and I'm not sure if I'm working in this direction or not. What kind of look am I even going for here? I'm not good at coming up with style monikers like some of you. Can you see any items I'm clearly lacking or would be good to add to my wishlist?

No monikers, but very minimal and sleek! and 95% black, white, and gray!

I see luxe casual with a dash of urban?
You have pattern & texture rather than colours.
Maybe some playful elements e.g. the Thom B whale blazer?

I'm terrible at style monikers, I'll leave that to others.

My advice to you would be to try and recreate some of your favorites here, even if you just do part of the outfit. Try and go for it and see how it feels. I believe in experimentation rather than arriving at your style with words or a verbal rubric. (See first sentence above, I'm just not good at the monikers.)

Another thought is that your present style seems more conservative than your pins -- are these aspirational? Are you seeking to go in a more edgy direction? I mean I see the classic lines here in these pins, and especially the use of neutral colors black grey white etc. But this might be something to ask yourself, if you want to go a bit more edgy or if there just some subtle details here and there you want to copy.

I think I might be coming off a bit frank here, I mean to be helpful!

Caro, I should try a few playful elements. Like the floral blouse I just bought!

Cocolion, I think you're right, I should try to create a few looks I like, or borrow some of the elements. I have a hard time with my own style because I think I get hung up on what I should wear vs what I would like to wear. For example, I have a lot of pins with leather shorts or leggings.....I would like to wear the style, but as a mom of 2 young kids, *should* I wear it? I sometimes forget my age too, and see people older than me wearing much younger clothes and think, why can't I wear that?!

Well, I definitely see urban here. At first I thought there was a bit of bohemian modifier because of the sheer blouses and oversized scarves, but as I scrolled down it seems more like a mix of preppy and urban, with leather mixed in with tailored jackets, trousers, oxfords. I see Urban, preppy and a bit of gamine/androgyny with the skinny pants/collared blouse/blazer/oxfords look.

Jeanava thanks, that helps a lot. That's the thing with pins though, I don't always like every element. I'm not really into the scarfs but I do like the blouses.

Angie, nice moniker! I'm not totally sure what it means yet, since I can't even figure out my style, but it's a great starting point!

Raisin, I hear you. Sometimes it's easier to start with one aspirational or risky item and style it with your existing things. That way you won't stick out so much or invite judgement from family members.

You may feel ready to take some style leaps (you are young - go for it!) but maybe you feel your family and how they see you, aren't quite there yet. I'm making that guess because of what you said about being a Mom of 2.

I get a rock edge, but more of Victoria Beckham rocker edge. Hardly any pattern (Except for the whale blazer - that sticks out a bit!), very clean, dramatic lines. I get a sense of modern classic as well...or at least what I understand as modern classic.

Quick impression is a lot of neutrals, leather/textures and clean lines. I do see the Victoria Beckham reference. Sounds like a good idea to post some of your favorite outfits on yourself to help fine tune things.

Well...I see what others see, the neutrals, the textures, the rocker princess thing Angie said (all that leather but in a sort of ladylike way)....but contrary to Denise, I also see this in what you buy and wear. It's just that what you own is more subdued versions of some of this, if that makes any sense. Simpler than the pins (which are fairly minimal, but not quite as minimal as outfits you've posted). Then again (like many of us) you don't always post with your coat and bag and such and many of the outfit in the pins are "complete" because the people are outdoors. So I could be completely off base on that.

I see strong modern, graphic lines - crisp with architectural interest (if that makes sense). Like Suz, I feel that what you have posted is true to what you are pinning - but a more subdued version. And to echo Cocolipn - I do get a sense that perhaps you are a bit more fashion forward than oithers in your surroundings.
Don't get hung up on the age thing. Wear what you find attractive and feels authentic to you.To me, you are at the perfect age to wear absolutely anything. You may have to make concessions for functionability (running after the young ones may rule out stiletto heels.) But I see a lot of leather in what you pinned - how practical is that? Just wipe it clean and you are good to go!

I love a lot of what you've pinned, and definitely see the Rocker persona Angie mentions. You have the youth and the figure to wear a lot of what I wish I could wear -- enjoy!

OMG, I love all your photos !! I am really liking this idea of looking at Pinterest to get an idea of what is going on in our heads.

I immediately thought "edgy, gamine". That is a great look.

I like the idea of getting a style statement from your pinterest boards. I do agree with Angie's Urban Rocker Princess - the princess being the classic element of your style, but way more urban and rocker than Kate, Duchess of Cambridge.

Yay, I think I like the urban rocker aspect, and you're right, I probably play it down more than these pins, but maybe that is just more practical for everyday life? Merwoman, you're right leather is just so easy, wipe and go! Lol!

My outfits are a little more minimal. I don't tend to do add on's like scarfs, but maybe I should post my jacket and bag more. I guess I feel like it's pretty much the same every time, so why post it?

Janet, you can wear a lot of this too! When I think of "rocker" style on this forum I immediately think of you. I love everything you post!

I'm glad some of you can see that I already have incorporated some of this into my looks. I think my more minimal tendencies also give off a more classic vibe. Maybe I need to add just a touch more to get the total look. I will keep trying and posting!
