Hi everyone,
My name is Kate
Would you guys please help me find my kibbe category?
You can see my pictures on my profile

I am 5 foot and 4 tall, thin, with tiny hands, small hips and square shoulders. I've been told that I look younger several times, but a few times I've been told the opposite as well.
I've been compared to Emma Watson, Audrey Tatou and Keira Knightley ( but I am way uglier than them ahaha)
I really need to find a style that fits me

For some reason the FB pics aren't coming up for me, but I snuck a peak at your profile pic. I can see why people would make the comparisons. I'm not a Kibbe expert by any means, but I don't think you're a 'gamine.' I think your features are sharper than that. You also seem 'dramatic' to me. Don't suppose you could give a text description of your body? If I recall right, Kibbe considers length of neck, arms, frame... like square shoulders or sloping shoulders...

I was thinking about flamboyant gamine or maybe natural, even though my body is quite tiny. My neck is long, thin. My arms small, and i have a tiny frame. My legs tend to be long compared to my whole body. I have an inverted triangle body.
I am not sure about dramatic since I am not really tall, my eyes are not narrow. But I may be an exception.

Hi. I am not a kibbe expert, but there are some very knowledgeable women on the Forum. You might get more responses during the week (as opposed to weekends) so keep coming back to check.

You might even update your title to include the word "kibble" so that they see it.

I tried to answer your question on your other thread, so I won't repeat it here.

If you are interested in Kibbe's ideas, though, I'd take others' assessments from a picture with a grain of salt. I've strongly identified with being a Kibbe Dramatic and found Kibbe's ideas really helpful in working out my style preferences. The interesting thing, though, is that it's my body shape, way of moving, and personality which played an important part in my finally coming to understand where I fit into Kibbe's categories. If someone was just viewing a picture of my face, though, I doubt they'd ever identify me as a Dramatic. We are the sum of our parts and our personality--and know instinctively what feels right and wrong for ourselves better than any external test or outside assessment.

I think I'm Soft Gamine and I think Gaylene is right about body v face, and I believe her lessons on how to work with Kibbe. I really came to the conclusion I was SG because I have very sloping shoulders and Kibbe's recommendation for blouse fabrics/drape/cut for SGs seem best for me. I learned about the blouses from Angie, tho. Kibbe stuff online just led me to more info about textiles. Also, I think I should add that I'm taller than what seems to be suggested usually for an SG.

You v me, you seem much more on the Gorgeous end of the spectrum. I feel I'm (tragically) on the Hello Kitty cute end. Lol.

Whatever type you are, don't ever tell yourself that you are ugly! Your body can hear you, and it may start to believe what it hears. Would you tell your best friends that they were ugly? No? Then don't do that to yourself. Treat yourself as your best friend. Build up your own self-respect and confidence. If you respect yourself, it will be easier for others to respect you, too.

honestly I couldn't see how you saw me as a dramatic. I've done a few tests and seen some dramatic and sift dramatic women, and I don't look like them. My eyes are more doe-type, my mouth is tiny, and my build is very small . Also, most people say I havE a young, almost innocent, appearance. Also, gamine have no chubby face, her face is sweetened by their eyes usually.

So everything I've read about gamine talks about a rounded face... anyhoo I couldn't see your FB pics before... but seeing this pic of you, despite your overall being small, I see you as having quite long, angular sharp lines. Like a ballet dancer. I think you'd be overwhelmed in ruffles and heavy draping and such details, that this would be fussy... so that's why I lean dramatic... but I can't remember the other options now...

Did you look at Style Syntax which I think I linked on your other thread? ( About your sister?) It had heaps of musings and information. The main thing I want to say is, you are very beautiful. Indeed similar to Audrey Tatou and Keira Knightley. I'm not as sure about Emma Watson. It seems to matter a lot to you that you find your Kibbe type?

Ok. Back to say, yes, Audrey Hepburn was a dancer... but it's the baby thing. If Audrey held a Hello Kitty doll, it would look like her doll. I feel if we posed you with Hello Kitty, I believe we'd feel you were holding it for a child...

...Lol. Hello Kitty is going to email me now, to inform me she is universal...

It's really important because I feel ugly all the time and I wish I could find a style that would make me look prettier. No one ever called me sexy or womanly, I always look like the boring bookworm. And that makes me so sad.. I wish I was different. Thank you for your kind words

Also, I am studying cinema and theatre in order to become an actress, and I would like to know if it's true that my physical appearance will affect the roles I may get. A guy once told me that would be good just for asexual androgynous roles..

My brother works in Hollywood... it's true they call for actors with certain looks... but it's also true that part of the craft is changing how you 'come off.'

To get people to call you sexy or womanly, you have to invite it... and that may not be something you actually want... Doesn't depend on looks. You can invite or inhibit without knowing. I know all this from working as a shopgirl ('professional flirt').

I also know from this experience, only the yuckiest, unsexy people make out in the middle of shops... lol

...My best friend (fellow shop clerk) once had this greasy hair girl pursue him while picking her nose... yes people, I just said that. Eeeww. And yes, of course the rest of us stood off to the side and laughed our heads off.

Caterina, in the photos you've shown, maybe the clothing and long, loose hair tend to a younger or less sophisticated look? Pic #2 definitely has a school-girl vibe.

Pic #2 is a very American look. In what I call the New Drab style. Lol. No comment on how good Americans look. Lol. We are notorious, are we not, for our boxy fits and plainness.

I think that you should get a second opinion about being good only for androgynous roles. That was only one guy's opinion.

About being "sexy" or "womanly," yes, some of us have features that are more "cute" than "sexy." I fall into that category, and there are others on the forum who do as well. I struggled with my looks for a while, but then I noticed that I enjoyed people in my life who looked "cute", because they were not the norm and were interesting in that way. So I reasoned that people probably enjoy my looks on that count as well. That helped me accept how I looked.

@Gigi , you're probably right. It's just annoying when people say things like "you could never look hot" "you are too skinny (or too fat, I was told the same opinion on the same day)... It makes you feel so sad

You have to be careful about people who focus on looks and fatness / skinniness. Taking them even a little seriously can put your physical and mental health in danger. I cannot tell you how many people I've known who've advised eating lettuce to cope with serious illnesses. Deadly advice that.

Unfortunately I am surrounded by those people, the funny part is that no one ever tells me I look okay, they always say I am too skinny or too fat.. And this so annoying, I just end up not knowing I have to lose weight or gain it.. I agree with you, but sometimes it's really hard to let it go

Yeah, it's hard. It becomes a habit, a default conversation like the weather. Slips in under the radar. People talk without paying attention. But it's really bad. Dangerous. My neighbor developed debilitating migraine and her whole life went under as she spent all her time eating lettuce - her mom's prescription. People on the street would give her the ridiculous advice to lean the other way and eat lettuce. She'd get mad, but then be focused on the advice. It got so bad, she couldn't even get to the grocery to buy that lettuce. Ended up in an emergency situation and me driving her to a clinic.

I'll tell you that you look OK...because you do. It is indeed very difficult to accept that, though, when you're surrounded by people telling you otherwise. You are the one who has to live in your body, so I would do whatever is healthy for your body.

And trust me, there will come along one day (if not already) a guy who thinks that you are hot just as you are.
