Thank you for all the lovely comments and thoughts today. I'm surprised at how many of them mentioned cupcakes, although I guess I shouldn't be :p

Yes, I got cupcakes at work and then even more cupcakes from my BFF. I also got a beautiful vase that my colleague made for me, which I promptly filled with pink tulips.

I wore my dress over a white buttondown with herringbone tights, oxfords, and this hat, which was a surprising hit at the office. I don't wear it often because it's a little unwieldy and a bit big for me, but perhaps I should.

Anyway, I don't generally make a big fuss over my birthday and this year is no different. I much prefer quietude over big fussy affairs.

San, I am 27 now. Not much of a baby anymore.

I'd take a picture but it's at work. It is textured with matte cream colored glaze. I'm not sure how to explain the shape though.

AJ, I chose the flowers that looked the most festive and complemented the vase without detracting from it. The bright pink and green looked pretty with the cream (and they are YLF colors!), and I look forward to seeing them in bloom. I also confirmed with the artist that it was the best choice.

Yesterday I had a cookies and cream cupcake: Chocolate cake, vanilla frosting with crushed cookies mixed in, and a whole Oreo cookie on top. I am surprised I still have all my teeth this morning, but it was delicious.

i hope you had a wonderful birthday. pink tulips are my favorite. i got a as seen on tv "big cupcake" as a joke holiday gift this year. i used it to make my husband a giant cupcake for his birthday this week. it was hilarious. hope your cupcakes were great as well!
