Thank you so much, everyone! I had a good day, if not the day we had planned. My twin sister woke up this morning with a stomach bug, so she couldn't make it. Chris and I were going to drop the kids off at my mum and dad's place and go for sushi and a movie, but that didn't happen. Instead we did manage a quick trip to the mall where I bought two new summer hats (Chris picked the black and white one, which is shocking as he as a rule thinks my hats are ridiculous and he detests shopping). I also opened some lovely presents of Duchess Grey tea, a scarf and some Florentines from a dear friend in the UK, and Chris surprised me with two new books!
Supper was at my parents' but Chris had to leave for his ball game, so it was just me and the kids and my parents. I let the kids blow out the candles with me! The cake is funny as my mum has made it for us for at least 30 years and both my sister and I don't like it much at all (it's called The Cake) but it is tradition. I did eat a piece and the kids devoured their slices. Mum also made a gorgeous trifle!
I am sitting here in a quiet house (fingers crossed kiddos are asleep) with a purring kitten on my lap, listening to the birds singing and watching the sun set. Not the day we had planned but a good one all the same, especially with all your lovely thoughts and sentiments. Here's to 37, hope you are a good year!
