Re product, I also generally dislike using product, but my curls tend to relax something serious by the end of the day without it. Is your hair fine? If so I would suggest using Bumble and Bumble's fine curl crème on wash days; just a little bit scrunched in is enough to keep the curls nicely formed AND it is super lightweight so you can't even tell it's there.
