Patience, you have the prettiest eyes!

Patience I love your hair cut...it really brings out your features and frames your face just-so! Beautiful!

I think we have similar hair...mine is pretty thick and straight although I do get the waves and the frizzies when the humidity starts up.

I have longer hair right now, but for most of my life I have had hair the length of your new haircut. And I'm pretty low-maintenance hairwise, but what I used to do would be to put some anti-frizz creme through my hear (I use Bedhead by TIGI) and let my hair airdry, and then either flat iron it (it really helps with the frizzies, and the flat iron I have is a GHD, and once I've flatironed my style stays for 2-3 days, even where there is humidity!) or put my hair up in hot rollers. Not many people use hot rollers anymore but they are a great trick where you want to get the nice blown under look without standing in front of your blow dryer for about 45 mins.

If you let your hair airdry with some anti frizz, it will be pretty smooth and then just use the largest rollers in the set. I normally keep them in while I'm getting changed/doing my makeup but if you even keep them in for 5 mins it will make a huge difference. And then you can brush the curls out to get a softer "blowout" look. There are some really good hot roller sets out there these days as well, mine heats up in about a minute and the larger barrels are large enough to just give the bottom of my hair a slight curve inwards.

Hope that helps! And beautiful cut once again! It really really flatters you!

Patience I love your new hair cut! It's a great length on you and the color looks very beautiful against your skin color.

I dry my hair upside down because I need to volume on the top. I found that it's the easiest and fastest way to get it. The trick is to wait until the hair is almost dry and blow dry it upside down quickly, stop while the hair is still damp, get up and finish drying it as usual. You should still get the shine this way.

This forum is such a resource! I've got a ton of new things to try out on my hair thanks to everyone here. I know styling hair is more of an art than a science since hair will change day to day. Now I can try all these ideas to find one that is generally foolproof for me.

Julia, I think my stylist suggested the upside down thing for volume on top too.

Aisha, I had never thought of hot rollers. I will definitely try Bedhead and start with the flat iron. Maybe one day I will look into getting a set of hot rollers.

Nicole, I thought about posting the before pic but then forgot when I made the post. Thanks for adding it.

Oh good! Glad you didn't mind that I took the liberty!

Lovely new cut Patinence.

Speaking of lovely new cuts, Sarah..... Do you have anything you want to show us?? HMMMMMMM???

Patience, I love your hair cut!

My hair is much thinner and finer, but very prone to flyaways and frizz. I have had to teach myself how to blow-dry it correctly. It is a learning process. Every time I'm at the hair salon, I ask my hairdresser to explain what she is doing, and let me try while she watches. It is worth it.

What I've learned:

1) Comb hair out with a big-tooth comb.
2) Allow to air dry until nearly dry. (do your make-up, get dressed, have some coffee).
3) Apply some mouse or some other product... experiment with this... everyone's hair is different. If you are flat-ironing, try something that will protect the hair from heat. I would tell you what I use, but since my hair is fine and thin, it is probably not what will work for you. Important thing is to add *some* sort of styling product. Not just for protection, but because it adds texture and "grippability" which will help with styling.
4) Use a large, round brush that has a metal shaft with holes in it and nylon bristles. Largest brush you can find.
5) Blow dry without the brush first, scrunching all around the roots, or flipping over as your stylist recommended. This is to dry the roots and add volume.
6) Using the large, round brush, dry from top to tip, a section at a time, holding the blow dryer DOWN the hair shaft - that is key! If you hold the blow dryer up the shaft, you end up with flyaways.
7) Dry it thoroughly. If you don't, it'll frizz.
8) Or use the flatiron at the end, to remove any excess moisture.

Excess moistuire = frizz.

9) lightly hair spray - spray the hair spray on your hands, then tap lightly down on any flyaways. Alternatively, try hand cream, with a very light touch. It works!!
