I really like the volume and the waves! I'd be tempted to experiment with color. Not very helpful... but I like your length. But, if you feel you need more of a change, I'd go in the direction Angie is suggesting (that first pic).

You have great hair! and I like all three current styles. I'd add some shine for pretty movement and then take your time to explore changing and cutting.

Here's some ideas! If you don't want to actually cut your hair in an asymmetrical style - you can get it cut so that you can just tuck one side behind your ear and get the asymmetrical look without the actual cut.
I had mine cut in the asymmetrical style for almost 3 years and started growing the short side out in January. I now wear it with it tucked behind the ear and really like it, but I also have the option of wearing it un-tucked for a different style.

That's a good idea if I want to ease into it, Marley. I sometimes do that anyway -- and years ago I would sometimes wear a low side part and tuck or clip the side with the part behind my ear.

I'm not sure what to recommend as far as a cut - but I think you look much better with wavy hair than straight. The straight hair doesn't feel natural nor as flattering on you (to my eyes, anyway).
So my vote is for a style that embraces your beautiful waves!
Looking forward to seeing your new 'do!

Your current hair looks great, but change is a real mood booster, so if you want it, go for it! I love the Emma Stone cut Caro linked and the Katie Holmes pic too.

I think we are issues twins lately! My OT post is lamenting my hint of jowls and my hair is thinning and straighter than it used to be. I'm in the process of moving to the Emma cut...almost there...and I actually feel like it is hiding my jawline a bit. My old cut was more layers around the front and nothing to distract from it...this longer in the front look covers things up a bit, but is short enough to not drag me down. At least that's what I want to believe right now!

I love the idea of an angled bob for you - longer in front than in the back. I like the ones Angie posted, but if you're not sure about going that short, try it about chin length first. You can always go shorter later.

Angie's first pic is one I use for my style. I have thick hair, which is actually not completely straight but easily straightened and very sleek - I don't think I have used a hairbrush in the last 10 years since it's been shorter. I would love to see you in a shorter angled choppy bob. But I'm biased!

I have no advice to give but you have great hair and I am excited about the change!

I am pretty bad with hair advice, but I think the shorter, wavy looks Angie and Marley posted would be great on you. On the other hand, I am very familiar with chin and jaw line sensitivities, and have found that an upward angle (as in Marley's second picture) does more to lift and distract than long hair, which by its nature drags the eye down. Just my two cents! You will look gorgeous with any of these suggestions!

I really like the "3rd" one, It really suits you better than the others.

Anna, I really dig that. I kind of like the idea of going against the prevailing angled bob trend and doing the reverse by going in the direction of a shag/mullet. My guy is good -- he would never give me a bad mullet!

Found this on WB's blog too -- looks like her natural hair texture is not too far off of mine. Love the sentiment of going a little wilder as I enter my 50th year, rather than dialing it back.

I am doing the Portia De Rossi cut next myself. I went asym on my last cut, but it is still too long. I just love this. And if you watch her on Scandal, she styles it lots of different ways.

Coming back to say that I love the mullet that Anna posted. I like going out on a limb but I have fine sort of thick hair that doesn't listen so I am very limited to styles. You have gorgeous hair. That shaggy mullet is wild.

Wow - I'm another one that really likes the mullet! So - Much - Fun. If I had longer hair in the back, I'd be on board for trying it out.

I think my hair is similar to yours in texture. If I wash it and straighten it at night, and then sleep on it, it is a lot smoother in the morning.

Kiki, my hair definitely behaves better if I pull it back in a loose ponytail for a little while after drying it, while I finish getting ready. So I relate to your tip!

Great thread with lots of hair ideas!
I also have wavy hair so I am following with interest
