Lyn, I'm late to the conversation, but I have to echo what the others have said -- you have lovely features and I don't see the issues you are concerned with. However, I understand those feelings! I avoid going too short with my hair because my head is proportionally quite small and I don't think it has a very nice shape either.

I have a suggestion -- what about changing your fringe to sideswept bangs? This may update your look and help give the impression of thicker hair.
