Deborah, I love your current style but am biased as mine is very similar. Have you tried using a flat iron on your hair after it has dried? I find that mine looks more modern and less of a "bubble" when the stylist does this especially. It's straight, sleek and shiny and seems a younger look. I usually don't take the time to do that myself, nor can I do it as well but that's due to lack of practice.

I love your current style and it is a very modern version of the bob however I think the shorter hair cut would be equally flattering on you and might be a nice change for summer if you are feeling a little dissatisfied - you can always grow it out again for winter.

I do love the KL haircut, but Angie has good points. What makes that cut is the RATE-ness and the part way off to the side and the bangs in the eyes. I mean, would you have to tie your hands behind your back to keep from pushing it all back into classical formation?

I'd maybe want a test run... Trying the part way off to the side and seeing how it feels...

I like the instagram picture- it looks like the trim/shaping worked out really well. I like it better then the other pics.

Hey Deborah,
I haven't been around at all, I lurk from time to time but I just had to log in to post a few pictures for you. Has anyone else been watching House of Cards? Robin Wright is phenomenal in it (She is one of my favorite celebrity women of all times!) and her haircut might just be up your alley. It is similar to your inspiration photo but more polished and chic.

I also like your hair but, like Joy, have a similar cut. I find that I prefer to use a flat iron on my bangs and sides to make it more modern, too. Otherwise, everything curls under/gets bubbly and I feel very ... cute .... or stuck in a time warp.

That said, I also adore the haircut in the photos. I'd love to see you try this, too.

By the way, I pinned the photos and plan on taking them to my next haircut to see what my stylist thinks!! So, thanks for the inspiration!

We are watching House of Cards right now, Bella. Love it! I prefer RW's hair to KL's hair too. Kevin Spacey is as brilliant as ever, and Robin Wright is a great baddie.

Debs! I forgot to mention the flat iron (*slaps forehead*). Thanks, Joy.

Such collective wisdome. Thank you all so much for weighing in on this.

Im not looking for low maintenance:) I wash and style my hair every morning and it takes about 20 minutes to blow wave and style... Im happy to do that.

The RATE-ness of the style isn't really my style and I suppose what I am really thinking of is a modification that is neater and more polished.

I use flat irons (we call them Straighteners) on my hair at the moment to smooth and flatten the bottom layer so that the tapering is more obvious and you are right in that I think that and the texturising is creating a more modern vibe.

I really appreciate both sets of opinions, both the yays and the nays.

Angie, I particularly value your input and you are not a wet blanket, you and others have highlighted things I had not considered. There is a woman I see at school who has much 'neater' version of this style.

Bella, that you for the pictures. I know the actress but not the series. Her hair is lovely and you have given me food for thought.

I will keep looking at styles and chat wih my hair stylist next appointment. This is not something I would do immediately. If I go shorter, I feel that I would prefer a longer swept to the side fringe (bangs) so I would need to grow my shorter fringe out before I get the chop.

For the time being though, I think I may just ask my stylist for more exteme graduation from back to front.

Thanks again, I appreciate it so much.
