Green jacket options - YouLookFab Forum

Hi all

I finally took an evening to try styling my new green jacket and would love some advice on the choices. What I am looking for is yes/no on whether each look works and if you care to say why. I am limiting the photos to not overwhelm:

1. With boyfriend jeans and high boots. Probably a winter look since the boots are lined and warm. this photo is with a white sparkle tshirt.

2. Same as 1 but with a black sparkly tank. Do you prefer one of the two shirt colors?

3. The same as 2 but I have on low black booties. the left are a lace up that is a bit more delicate, very oxfordish, and the right is UWP moto. Any preference on the shoes?

4. With a jersey black dress and two boot options, high heeled and a slightly cowboy cut low one. Are these ok? I don't do pumps, a little too ladylike for my lifestyle.

5. With an aline skirt and black vneck tshirt. Here I have on the same cowboy bootie on the right but a suede bootie on the left.

Any opinion on other tops I could have under the jacket?

I also tried it with a pencil but the effect is too business lady formal and that is not in my lifestyle.

I also intend to wear it with both black jeans, dark jeans, black slacks but need some idea on whether I should stick with black under (like a turtle in winter) or if other colors seem possible? A column of color lets the jacket shine I assume?

I think I prefer #4 the most with the tall boot; the proportions of the long jacket are balanced out by the skirt and your leg line is lengthened by the boot. Like you say, the column of colour

I'm not really a pants person, so I will leave the evaluation to people who know more about pants!

My immediate response is that the jacket will work better over pants. I would be interested to see it over a pencil skirt (if you wear them). Given the jacket is quite a statement piece, I would keep the top underneath quite simple so as not to compete with the jacket and I think my preference would be for a darker tones with it, so dark wash jeans and yes black pants. It's a beautiful jacket.

Great jacket, Jayne! I like both the white and black toppers. Browns, dark purples and reds could be alternatives, but you have to choose carefully. Sand and cream will of course work well. I like both the tall boot and the bootie with the skirt/dress. Until it cools down, I think the lowest cut bootie sans hose is a great transitional style.

I think if you had dark pants and the tall boots it might do better. With the longer jacket , lighter jeans and dark boots the proportions are off. Looks better with the booties.

so far the light jeans and tall black boots are not getting much love. Will try again with dark/black jeans later.

Sorry deb, not a pencil skirt girl. That makes the outfit so businesslike that I want to run the other way!

INgunn, I will look into dark purple top, the jacket is very jade (the color may be off here) so I think browns/reds will clash. I might also try with a blouse that is a bottle green, but I worry that is too much green?

A llittle split on high boot, low bootie with the skirt versions....interesting to see how that develops. I take it as I can do both and will choose after chilliness factor.

I didn't think I had seen you in a pencil skirt Jayne:). It was just that I felt a straight fitted silhouette would work best with the jacket:)

Hi Jayne! Such a lovely green, with great detail. I like #2 --- the balance of sparkle with jeans, but I think I'd like it even better with dark or black jeans. I also like 4 with the tall boots. I know you have some lighter softer, drapey pants (gray, I think?), how would they do? Do you have something like that in black? I think I like the idea of dark tops, or a very dressy white layer.

#1 and #2 I really like. Maybe a pencil skirt would work better than the flare.

I like all the pairings with black. Even tho the white has sparkle, it still reads too casual for the jacket to me.

thanks all. I will maybe post dark jeans later. I have to do a serious purge of ill fitting ones first. Not up to that today.

beth ann- yes I did have drapy grey slacks but I finally decided they were just too big, abour 3 sizes. I am on the lookout for a grey slack this fall,,,top of the need list (want list is something else)

I really like the jacket best over trousers. The length of it makes it difficult with fuller skirts. Perhaps with a pencil skirt it would work.

Overall I prefer this jacket with all of your jeans outfits. I think all of the footwear choices you've posted work. And the white vs. sparkly top work equally well; it just depends on the occasion.

I'm less certain how this jacket works with the longer dress, going back to see what others said.
