Okay, I need a lighter top suggestion! This is just a Gap layering t...

#2 gets my vote. #1 just doesn't seem to be quite "you"

Personally, i love either. So, i will not vote for either of them.

#2 is perfection...you look movie star gorgeous! People will probably ask you for your autograph

PS I still love the capelet in #1. Try dressing it down.

I'm gonna go with the crowd and say 2 - though I do love the capelet! LOVE the outfit you put together. I hope the party is amazing, can't wait to see more pictures

#2 all the way!

Words cannot begin to describe how very much I love your outfit

I think a lighter top with #2 is worth a try, but I'm not sure that would be my preference. I like the idea of echoing the black from the boots in the top. I do think that something with a bit more luxurious feel than a layering tee would be nice. Do you do turtlenecks? I could see a black cashmere turtleneck with this, or a drapey collarless black blouse.

This shirt immediately came to my mind:

It's the one I have in the rum raisin color that I bought at Shoptoberfest.

Love the vest but I feel unready to give up on the capelet -- is there any way you can keep the front of it open, so that it makes a deep vee, to lessen the neckline issue that Angie raised?

Both of these items, by the way, made me feel a strong need to pet something. (I mean that in an extremely positive way.) Where is that kitty...

April, I actually can do that! I can place a pin lower than the clasp to make a wider V and have it sit back on my shoulders (the model is doing the same thing in one picture), and it looks really good. But I do think it is too glam for the look I'm doing for this event. I am so in love with it, and will try to make it work before returning...

Thanks again everyone! Now for the shirt....

Janet, I actually have this top in black from Ann Taylor!

I don't think you need a lighter top actually, I think you need a shorter top with #2. Or can the black top you're wearing be tucked?
