I do admit to occasionally trying on something that I know most likely won't fit. A girl can dream.

I have this problem.

Foe me everything slips, except when the shoe or boot fits or is tight across the top of my foot. Even laces, boots, or plain pumps. Can slip or. Not, just depends on howtheyfit on the top obey feet. Thus everything is hit or miss.

Yep, I have the same problem. It's because my heels are narrow and the balls of my feet are not. No solutions, other than to wear only boots or shoes with straps.

Actually, that's not totally true. I have a couple of pairs of gorgeous pumps, and while I wouldn't wear them for walking all day, they are comfortable enough for a "sitting day". I bought them a little tighter than were strictly comfortable, and got the front of the shoe stretched out (a lot) with a shoe stretcher.

I don't wear ballet flats, but it's no loss because I don't like how they look on me anyway. They make my feet look ridiculously tiny!

Narrow heels! I have them, too, and very low-volume feet. My personal tricks are: sling-backs in place of classic pumps (preferably with some elastic or adjustable small buckles on the heel strap; ghillies when they're in style (chunky heel with lacing on a low vamp;) and t-straps, both heeled & flat, when I can find them. Super-flexible soles also seem to help; the only flats I can wear are by Aerosole, Me Too, or other brands with soles that can bend almost in half. Driving mocs work this way, too, and I wear them in place of hard-soled loafers.

I can remember when better shoes came marked with heel widths in addition to the usual sizes and widths. It was possible to find shoes with AAAA heels! I wonder whether those exist anywhere anymore.

Just saw Catnip's tip about Munros and their combination lasts. I will definitely look for those. Thanks, Catnip!

Same problem...have found inserting sponges helps to some extent.

I have this problem too! Even plimsolls with laces slip off. Every type of shoe does unless the strap/closure comes right up to the ankle.

To make matters worse, the width of my toes is wider than the average fit. A narrow heeled shoe with a wide toe box just seems to be such a rare find. Having said that, has anybody tried Calla shoes?
