For cooler weather comfortable pants with a quality fabric, choice of leg width/length, comfort, easy care and even the possibility of a choice of side stripe, I’ll second Suz on Saint and Sophia. Their ponte fabric is unique in my experience and washes beautifully without having that flimsy, quick to pill or snag quality that put me off some ponte. Their runway pant is great and it could be close to what you are looking for silhouette wise. https://saintandsofia.com/coll.....black-pant

It may be a heavier weight than you prefer, though it is great in later fall, winter and early spring. I have a several pairs from a few years ago and found one size down from usual a good fit. I am a 5’8” (32-ish inseam) and the length is good.
Best with your search; it is frustrating when standby items disappear.

I feel the same way about my Athleta Venice joggers. I have the old style which I love. I'm babying mine now. They're 4 or 5 years old and I hope I'm lucky enough to get 10 years out of them. Good luck on the replacement search--sounds like you have some good options. Hard to beat the wash and wear of Athleta though...

Eliza, those seem appealing, but a concern iss the weight -- one of the great things about the Athleta pants is that they work for most of the year for me, including summer. The fabric is light and breezy (like the fabric of the Brooklyn pants, which sadly are not cut for my build anymore), and the fit loose from the hip down, which really helps! I may try the S&S to see if they seem workable.

There is a pair of Vuori pants at Nordstrom that I've ordered to try. Again, the fabric might be too heavy, but I'll find out soon (pic 1). https://www.nordstrom.com/s/wo.....ts/7475929

I ordered a pair from Old Navy that would possible suffice -- I only did a very quick try-on and need to look at them more closely. It's just an exposed elastic waist, so they lack any kind of tailored details that make them look a bit more trouser-like, but they seem comfortable and workable, if not amazing (pic 2). I ordered a M and a MTall, and definitely need the Tall to achieve the length I like. https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse.....ge-content

The Vuori pants arrived already! Well, they would be promising, but I was a bit too quick to order in a usual size before checking their sizing info carefully — I need a size up, doh! Technically they “fit” in a M/8 but are more fitted than I prefer — other people might want the close-fit look but I have them bagged up for return, and have ordered the next size up.

They appear really well made, and the styling is nice and trouser-like. The length is good, which is always a worry! They are a bit thick for my purposes, but it might just be that these would be my cooler weather travel/easy day pants, and I’d go for an even looser, lighter pair for summer. The Vuori pants might take some of the load off the Athleta pants and buy me more time to find a summer replacement.

But I need to be real about how I wear these pants. They’re so good for something like a visit to a botanical garden, where I like to look decent (not always in hiking gear) but not worry if I’m sitting on a concrete floor or the ground to take photos, which I do a LOT. My pants need to stand up to hard wear. It’s a tall order for something that I want to look acceptable in to go for dinner afterwards.

Oh I like those vuoris. Especially the no-wasitband part.

The Vuori pants sound like a winner once the correct size comes in. I haven’t tried this brand yet so I’ll be curious how they hold up over time. Glad you found a replacement.

We shall see if they really are the answer once the right size comes in! I do not want a butt-hugging style, IYKWIM. I don’t have an issue with my butt, it’s just that for this kind of pant I want ease, above all! Crossing fingers.

Fingers crossed, Janet!
