Such a nice dress on you christina. Love the print!

This was made for you.

I also read Lizzie Borden. Funny.

With these two dresses, the short review of both is that I need to avoid the Boden jersey dresses andstick to wovens. At least for summer weight dresses. Both of these cling to my belly pooch more than I’d like.

The Nicole has a great length and pattern, so it’s a shame. This one is a flat out no due to the clinging. (I suspected this would be the case, but tried anyway.)

As for the Phoebe, I like how it looks from the front. I will check again when I’m less bloated... but I’m often bloated due to tummy issues, unless I guzzle fennel tea. It also depends on the time of month, of course. Since I don’t like shape wear for daily use, especially in warm weather, the Phoebe is also probably going back. I’d like a navy jersey dress, so Boden may not be the answer for this desire.

The Nicole is not a great fit so onwards and upwards!!

The Phoebe looks better - but you have shown us some really fab dresses lately and I don't think it is as good as them.

Knit dresses are tricky - I have had better success with winter weight knit dresses than summer - the balance between cling and being oversized is never easy for hourglasses!!

Great Lizzie dress and the gold sandals with ankle ties worn at the retreat are the bomb. Do you have a find?

bj1111, thank you. These are the sandals! I had to go down half a size.

Sal, you are absolutely right. I won’t have time to send them back till the weekend, and I’ll check the blue again but I’m pretty’s sure I don’t want it. I wish I could burn the orange!

Those look so comfy yet stylish.

Thanks for sharing! It’s so helpful to see these on real people. Neither of those knit dresses do you justice. The wovens on the other hand, are fantastic! Your new dress is gorgeous with the metallic sandals!

Thanks for showing these, Christina. I agree that the Boden wovens are beautiful on you and these jerseys don't do you justice. The fit and flare style in a non-jersey fabric seems really good for you. But as Sally said, sometimes winter weight jerseys work better than summer.

Anyway, the first dress is amazing on you!

Thanks, kellygirl and Suz. I think a fit and flare jersey dress might have worked too, but I’m actually tired of getting “spotty parcels” now and will search for my navy dress elsewhere. (I also got some culottes I’m desperate for that were too big in my size, and now other sizes are gone.)

I have had this problem with Boden in the past. It’s only been since I’ve posted on here regularly that I could articulate the woven vs. jersey difference. I do have black jersey dress by Boden, but it’s constructed with enough ease under the waist so as not to cling in an unflattering way.

Christina, that Lizzie is SOOOO gorgeous on you. A little alteration, and it's your best dress. You WOW me in it.

Both knit dresses are a dash snug. Don't worry. You've got the BEST woven dress. I was going to suggest you pass on the Phoebe. Nicole has potential. You could size up in a petite.

FWIW, these are the Boden silhouettes I'd have chosen for you:

Angie, thank you for the suggestions! What I really want right now is a plain navy summer dress, which for some reason has been a HEWI for me. I can find ALL the dresses, and ALL the other items in navy, but I guess when looking for a dress I usually fall for a print instead, like the crazy floral on the Jade dress.

I've looked at the Leila and Kassidy before, and those would be in my next order... except that I have spotty parcel fatigue and am expecting a bunch of refunds. (I have also tried some non-dress items that simply didn't fit, though I did successfully duplicate their wonderful Breton top as well.) The process of waiting for the order and then returning it and waiting for the refund has gotten tiring. Now that I've determined this is a HEWI, I may not be able to rest until try all the options, though.

As for Nicole, she does not come in the next size up petite - that's the 12P that they don't make at all. So much for Nicole!

Now I know what to look for more clearly, so in the future, I hope for less of the buy-return-refund cycle.

Christina, don't fight it. Feel it. Crazy patterns are signature. Milk it. And I hear you on the shopping fatigue. Stop, and enjoy your incredible Lizzie.

Yes, I do have shopping fatigue! I thought I was better sorted for summer than I was... but some stuff shrunk in a laundry incident, and also I'm pickier and didn't like some things I was fine with last year (or my shape changed subtly, though my weight didn't). I also realized I needed a dressy capsule for the events I attend.

I'll never fully resist the crazy patterns, no worries!

Hey all, I have this dress in hand and was going to return due to it being a little off in the bodice. Now that I’m
returning a bunch of other stuff, I’m wondering if I can alter this since my husband liked it. The straps are too long, but I’m not sure if that’s he main or only problem. It’s a similar shape to the Nicole dress but doesn’t cling in the middle. I can also be convinced to just return it, though I do love this print.

YES. Take it to the tailor. The staps need a little shortening. I'm with hubs.

I bought this before my retreat and sort of put off the decision about it, even though I really loved it in the dressing room aside from the strap issue. I bought this before my retreat and sort of put off the decision about it, even though I really loved it in the dressing room aside from the fit issue. It’s not cheap. But it’s a more appealing prospect to tailor it now that I’m returning three items (including a top that didn’t fit) to Boden. This color scheme goes with my new hair, and I don’t have much else like in these colors.
