#4 and #7 are my favorites. I used to love mandarin collars in the 80's and early 90's. I think I od'ed on them.

#9 was my favorite but you look awesome in all of these!

So many great looks. I love the set together as well as split up. I also love mandarin collars and am so surprised how many don't. Suz, do you wear flats at all because I am envisioning it with some pretty ballet flats, sequin, or metallic or black or even some heels with a lower vamp. I think the length wouldn't bother everyone so much then, although I don't see the big issue with with either the fit or length of these pants. It's also obvious you love the suit, so really, it shouldn't matter what any of us say. I hope you wear it lots and get plenty of happiness from it.

Love! So many fun pieces to mix and match.

I really like the pants shortened. You know you could also make a pair of cuffed shorts out of them, a shorts suit is soooo much fun.

I love the idea of posting this suit for Angie when she returns. She will know precisely what to do!

Two inches in length available on the pants, you say :)? Maybe making these full-length would be the way to go? It's funny: In some of the pics, I really like the pants as-is, in others I think the fabric just looks a teeny bit stiff to be such a voluminous silhouette (through the thighs esp.). But maybe if they were full-length that would help to balance out the fullness? Satin also photographs "big" so maybe in person they look different?

My faves out of this batch are 6, 9, and 17. I guess I really love this color paired with black, and have a hard time envisioning the silk sateen for daytime. BTW, count me in as pro-Mandarin collar for you!

Okay without looking at the other replies, my favourites are 8,9,13,14 ( all FAB!!!) and 3,12, and 17. #4 seems a bit boring by comparison. And I think I like the pants just as they are. Suggest you get some wear out of them before you decide to shorten them. Lovely colour on you!!

I will definitely post the pants for Angie when she gets back. Does anyone know when that is?

Jonesy, the texture of the fabric is actually very soft and thin, almost but not quite drapey. I think it appears stiffer and perhaps heavier in the pics than it is in real life. In the pics it almost looks brocade-weight. But not in real life.

I see what you mean about wondering how it could work for daytime. I do think I'd wear the top in the day without any worries. I don't mean a work-at-home day, but if I were going out for a fun lunch or going to a meeting or giving a presentation.

I haven't even tried it with black - only the navy. I do have black items to wear the pieces with, but thought it might be too harsh for my colouring and maybe a bit dated. But I can definitely try!

Wow! Ok, I have only skimmed the responses, but I will add my two cents. On first look, I loved the combinations with the denim and dark colors and the combinations with tan or brown less so. Except, I really liked the belted with long skirt (I think the last one). I do understand what you mean about a tight waist and big hips - some clothes are cut that way, and they never fit me because I am built exactly the opposite. Since you have a narrow waist, I think it works on you. There is no way this was not a worthwhile purchase, but I think you should absolutely bump this up when Angie gets back in terms of the fine tuning.

OK -- had to go to page 2 to comment! That means you have a hit on your hands, Suz! Very creative remixing -- you're a master! FWIW I'm not sure I'd alter the pants. I think the ease is part of "the look." What's the count now? 15-16 different mixes? Woohoo!

Some really good ideas here Suz. For the top, how about wearing it open over a T-shirt, like a waist-coat? It would give you that SNP coverage along with some structure and if you left it unbuttoned, it might look less 90's. Just a thought.

Angie, look away indeed! I get very cheeky when she's gone!

Holy smokes! There are some incredibly creative and gorgeous combos, which have already been pretty consistently identified. I can't get my head around the pink pants. They make me think 80s or 90s. But the pieces without the pants work so wonderfully, jacket included. You are a master mixer. I'd love to spend a day with you in my closet, Suz. You have a good eye.

Suz, in answer to your questions, I wouldn't shorten the pants, I think the length works beautifully on you. And yes you can wear the jacket. It looks fabulous and it very flattering on you.

The combinations I love are 6, 8, 9 (the Docs look amazing) 10/11 an 16/17. I don't love the pairing with the white skirt:(

Given the fabric, do you see these peices are special occasion wear or everyday?

Its an amazing suit!!

Suz, Greg and Angie left on the 12th and were to be away for 10 days. So they should be back or almost back (I think I am 24 hrs ahead of you). Can't wait to hear what she thinks

Wow! The weird skirt outfit is my favourite actually

Also love the white shirt and black shirt and white skirt looks, and of course 7 and 11.

Such a fabulous, fabulous find, Suz!

#7 is the way to go! (Trousers need heavy alteration in my mind, Suz).

Once altered, I love #4 too

Adore #17!!

My faves are the outfits with the denim jacket
