Hi friends! Sorry to have been absent lately!

For those of you that own slip on sneakers, do you go barefoot or wear socks? Anyone have squeaky shoes?

I bought a pair last fall and they are too squeaky to be wearable. This type of shoe fills a hole for me, but I don't want to buy something that inevitably starts squeaking after a few months of wear.

Cute shoes! I wear either nude knee-hi's or a nude footie with my slip-on sneakers. It's easier to slip them on and off when I have that extra layer over my bare feet.

Ah, good question. Too late to return them. I wore them over the fall/winter months and then they started the infernal squeaking! Just wondering if it's is typical of this style, caused by me wearing them without socks, or a fluke!

I haven't tried either, but baby powder and/or sandpaper might help and it doesn't sound like you have much to lose.

I wear no show socks with my Vans. I haven't had any squeaking issues with those and I've been wearing them every day since the snow melted in Boston. My favorite socks to wear with them are the Smartwool Hide and Seek socks. They don't show with the slip on Vans.

Rambling Ann, thanks. I tried baking soda, but could also try the powder/sandpaper. The shoes are actually looking pretty dingy too, so it's not the end of the world if I have to replace them.

I don't wear socks with my slip-on sneakers. I have had success in treating a squeaky shoe -- and this might sound weird -- by rubbing a little bit of lotion/moisturizer on it. I read that somewhere and it helped the last pair of squeaky shoes I had. I suppose it depends on what exactly is causing the squeak, but I guess it might be worth a try! I had one pair of shoes that squeaked because of a little pocket of air trapped underneath the insole. Those things drove me nuts.

What Janet said about a pocket of air developing. I had sneakers that developed a squeek after something made a slit or cut in the rubber sole. There must have been an air pocket inside making a squeek when when I put weight on it.

I have a couple of pairs of slip on sneakers and wear them all without socks. No squeaking issues here. However, I have pound that a foot spray increases the comfort and maybe it will help with the noise, too.

So interesting about the punctured sole and air bubble. I bet that is exactly my problem because I did wear them for an impromptu hike over some rough terrain. So glad to know the barefoot issue wasn't the problem and that most of you do not experience any squeaks! Thank you all for sharing your suggestions and experiences.

I have been LOVING my slip on trainers by the brand Victoria that I got from Rubbersole... they are amazing! They don't squeak... I have been wearing them without socks and for any occasion--work and play! They seem to suddenly fill a void in my wardrobe that I didn't know was there. One problem though, my feet sweat in them when its hot out. I guess that's the down side to closed shoes without socks... :/

Are these canvas sneakers? I throw my white pair in the machine with the bath towels (white) when they begin to look dingy. Eventually of course that no longer works and then it's time for a new pair.

I have 2 pair and love them. No squeaks for me..I sometimes wear barefoot but also use the little nude no show footies and those work well!
