Karen, Jenni's is great isn't it. I'm not sure the one I got from work is quite as good, but I think it'll be adequate.

I ended up buying tan gloves.

I tried out the first hair recommendation yesterday (because it seemed easier). It kind of worked but I'm going to try out the other one tomorrow if I can manage it.

Will do some trying on tomorrow!

Update. Have had the make up done.

Anne, your make up is so pretty! You will be the belle of the ball, I hope you have a wonderful time.

Thanks Mrs K and Bijou. Am home now and Dd9 took a few pictures

Adorable outfit and pose. Divine hairdo.

KILLER to the Power of KILLER

You look amazing!! Gloves, shoes, headpiece are perfect. I love the way the gloves math the shoes. And your make up is gorgeous.

Thanks ft, Jaileen, Angie and Karen.
I felt dressed appropriately and got some compliments. I wasn't as glitzy as a lot of people though - lots of gold on black or white around and some gorgeous headpieces.
Only one other person wore gloves. I have to admit though, that they were hot, as was the feather boa. It was over 30 C. After I visited the photo booth I took them both off. They also got very grubby very fast!!
I bought that colour because that's all the shop had, but black would have been more practical - should any of you be in that position.

The party was fun, but I didn't stay late (I left before 9) as I it was so loud I couldn't really hear anyone talk. Not that much I could eat either, so filled in the gaps at home with a bowl of GF porridge!

I adore that makeup and you looked so fantastic in the whole outfit. You have a great figure for that style. It is difficult for shall we say the stouter matrons ( which I'm becoming if not already become) to look right in 1920s but I have seen it done well in Napier at Art Deco and there are websites that explain how! Your headband is really good. I bought my cobalt one at Art Deco weekend itself, could not resist since I already had the cobalt dress. Your shoes were perfect too!

Wow, the makeup makes you look so different. Totally perfect flapper makeup.

WOW! Dang you look great! Well Done!

Thanks Anna and Rachy!

K2K indeed. My very favourite ever!! You look spectacular in the 20s makeup, that dress is killer as party wear and beyond, and wow wow wow wow-- what fun!!

PS drop waists also work really well on me (body double). I think it is because we have the shoulder line and small bust -- it fools the eye, actually, into thinking our legs are normal (because a drop waist is dropped on everyone, right?).

I love the way you styled your dress -- the headband, boa and pearls add a bit of fun, and the light shoes echo the pearls! Brava!

Omg great job! From where you started with the dress I did not see that coming at all!

You look gorgeous!

Thanks for the compliments ladies!

Suz - great to hear your thoughts on the drop waists. It reminds me of one of our very first interactions on YLF - about pants and skirts and rises. Anyway if you think we can carry off drop waists that's very encouraging! I've wanted to get a sweatshirt dress or tunic for a while and a lot of them are drop waist and that's been putting me off.

Angie - K to K!!!! Wow. Thanks.

LOVE!! The makeup is amazing on you

I’m curious about the makeup, because it looks great in the final pictures, but in the first shot right after it was done, I thought the pale, nearly white look was not flattering in the least. How did you feel about it?

Fashiontern, at that point I was just relieved it was over - she took 45 minutes and the queue was backing up!! I really didn't evaluate it, though I had curious people popping into my office to have a look during the afternoon (I was one of the first to have it done)

I think it's probably mostly just a lighting issue. First picture was a selfie in the bathroom.

Though on second thoughts I do remember feeling quite pale and theatrical and that is was weird, but I thought might be good for an evening venue. Probably had worn off a little by the second photo too, since I was home by then.

Following the evolution of the look was so much fun. I hope you got told how beautiful you are a whole bunch of times. I also hope you don't see that dress as just a costume. The cut and colour are lovely for an evening out, a wedding, church, etc. Since your friend said you can keep it, I hope it goes into rotation.

Thanks Runcarla. I had plans to wear it again for sure, though my thoughts were going on a more casual line than yours, so not wedding, but casual Fri, dressier MOTG and church (but church is pretty casual for me)

To me “MOTG” is Mother Of The Groom. That probably isn’t what you mean.

Wow! Fabulous outfit and makeup perfection! How did you do your eyes? The boa and necklace are outstanding with the dress and your hair is gorgeous. Well done!

Fashiontern, I think MOTG can also stand for Mom On The Go.

How did I miss this until now? What a great look! You nailed it.
