Wow, great work! I'm sure it felt very freeing.

My son is graduating this year too, and I'm doing the same thing. Of course, we're also moving, so it's more necessary, but it does just feel right to clear out in times of transition! I have taken so many loads to Goodwill in the past few weeks!

Sorry for the late response. I'm still in the midst of this massive endeavor. It's comforting to know that I'm not alone in this mission and that many of you have experienced the same thing with a major life change. It's still overwhelming but I keep reminding myself that this is a process--it's not like I'm moving house just yet. I figure if I do something every weekend, I'll get there eventually.

It is overwhelming, but I also think it helps give you some sense of control as you noted.

I did a whole home remodel last year while my youngest was a senior in HS (can you say denial?) and even after almost a year back in the house, I'm still cleaning and organizing. It's been a good opportunity to think about where I want "stuff" and where I don't. Lots of trips to goodwill, and some good opportunities to revisit old favorites while deciding whether I"m ready to pass them on. (Kids stuffed animals and soccer jerseys need to stay for a while longer. Old pictures need a new home.)

Enjoy it as a process - and congrats on the cleaned spaces!

Good for you! Every little bit helps and feels good.
I've been trying to weed out the excess from all of my life. I don't ever think I'll get to THE END, but I will get to more of a happy place with the amount of STUFF I have (clothes being a major portion). You didn't accumulate it in a day, so don't think it will be gone that fast either. Sounds like you're doing GREAT!

We have been in our small downsized home 21/2 years. It does not seem possible. I am ready to do a major clean and purge what is not working. Plus the yard and plants. Some are getting old and should be removed. I am not sure I like what the landscaper came up with.
