Good grief, J - was hoping against hope when I opened this that you were talking about a cozy hearthside experience.

So scary. Very glad no one was harmed and I wish you a safe and cozy rest of the holiday season.

What a scary experience - glad you and family are safe. Hope the rest of the Holiday is much more peaceful and relaxing!

Janet, this sounds so scary! I’m glad everyone is okay and the fire was caught and put out before more damage occurred.

Glad to learn you and what you care about the most is safe. Hold on to them.

I am so sorry, Janet, what a shocking and scary experience, and what a terrible thing anytime, but especially so close to the holidays. I hope they are able to fix the damage with as minimal expense as possible. I am so glad your home is built well and didn't sustain the sort of damage a new home might. It sounds cliche, but at least you and your family are okay. A home is more than "just things", but it is still infinitely less than the lives and health of those we love.

Oh Janet thank God you are all safe and sound, and that your home was relatively unscathed. What a frightening experience, I'm sure your adrenaline must have been raging. Your attitude of gratitude is an inspiration. Sending love and best wishes that repairs go smoothly. Huge hugs xoxox

I'm just now seeing this. How scary. I'm so thankful that your family is safe.

Thanks again, everyone!

We are lucky indeed. Lots of repairs and construction to come — this is fast-tracking my office renovation, which was not urgent before. Sigh! Wanted to redo our bathroom first but with the floor of the downstairs torn up and cold air coming in through the temporary plywood, it’s more important now. Well, at least we finally get to replace the old stained carpet with nice hardwood floors.

Hoping to have new HVAC installed next week!

Janet, this sounds soooo scary! I am so glad that you both and the dogs are ok.
