Just based on body type, I'd say I'm similar to Brenda and Una except taller, bigger, short waisted and flat chested. I'm 5'3" and 42" around the shoulders. Chest and hips are proportional; big legs; very heavy bones--lol! I'm an IT with secondary rectangle, I think. There's only about 8" difference between my waist and hips. I also have a very wide back. That's me in a nutshell. Who wants to be my twin : )

Hmm, actually Natalie you & i are pretty darn close! I wouldn't have thought so, but looking more closely at your pictures i can see it. I'll post my numbers, it's interesting to me to see how an inch or so here or there can make a visible difference.

5' 6"
clothing sizes - from 4-14, i just go by what fits
130-140 lbs.
Shoulders: 41
Bust: 37 (bra 34DD)
Waist: 29
Hips: 36-37
shoes: 9 1/2 M

Compared to Natalie, my waist is an inch or so smaller, my bust a couple of inches bigger. Which isn't all that much.....but my shoulders are so big, which influences everything, and it seems like i'm noticeably longer from ribs to hips. Natalie is an apple shape, i'm more hourglass/inverted triangle even though we are so similar in measurements.

I find that shape and proportion always come into play. "And even if someone is totally not my exact shape or style, I still can learn a lot from them! " Natalie, very well put! I love all the variety, i think i learn so much more that way, and i never get bored here either steph

Kelly, we're not the same but there are some similarities! My shoulders are not as wide as yours (about 39), but they are wide, and I'm an inch or so taller than you. But I'm also more or less the same chest/hips and I have the strong legs (though yours look killer to me in all your posts!!)

Hmmm. One thing I'm discovering is that although we may not find our perfect match, we can definitely learn from others who share one or two features with us! Natalie said it well.

I am not sure if I have a twin, but here goes:

I am a pear shape..tiny shoulders where straps never stay up. Smallish chest, super long-waisted, with a small waist and large hips. Finding pants and jeans that fit my hips/behind/thighs and do not gap at the waist is a forever challenge, which is why I live in skirts in warmer weather! Add to that short legs, which also make pant length a challenge, and size 8 wide feet.

I'm in the process of getting back to my goal weight, so instead of numbers, I'll do sizes for now...for blouses, sweaters, jackets, and A-line style dresses/skirts, size 4-6. Pants and fitted skirts are 8-10.

One trick I've learned is to find tops with collars or necklines that balance the hips. Bateau/boatneck T-shirts, portrait collars, "fair isle" designs on sweaters, some cowl necks...all do a great job of balancing shoulders and hips.

If any pear shapes have suggestions for brands of pants that fit, please let me know!

Kelly, yes, I look to you for a lot of tips and have bought two blazers because of you! And yes, Brenda is a triplet, though her style and mine are not that close. We all share certain fit issues for sure.

How are we measuring shoulders?

Ooh, this is cool, Suz! Yes, now that I think about it, we do share a similar build and you do have a strong shoulder line (yay)! No wonder I like all of your outfits so much.
@Una: I've never measured shoulders before. I just wrapped a tape around my upper body--like I was wearing a slightly off the shoulders top. I tried to find my narrowest point and it was still a big number. sigh.

I thought it was doubling your shoulder span. If you wrap around, it includes the side measurement - should that count?

Yes, let me know how we are supposed to measure shoulders! This is so interesting! Funny that Una said I have hips. I always thought I had broad shoulders actually. And also funny that Steph is close to my size--she always looks so lean and lanky and tall!!! These are great surprises--I have more in common with people than I thought!

Una, you make an excellent point. "I thought it was doubling your shoulder span. If you wrap around, it includes the side measurement - should that count?"

well, we wrap around for all the other measurements, so.... But your question brings up the point that measurements like bust, waist, etc. only tell us one part of the story. How any particular circumference looks will depend partly on how it's distributed. My shoulders are pretty 'flattened out' (skinnier when looked at from the side). My 99 year old grandmother (under five feet tall) probably has a bigger shoulder circumference than i do, though, because she has a pronounced dowager's hump. Her shoulders look skinnier than mine from the front.

I don't know if that helps or not! steph

oh Natalie - "...she always looks so lean and lanky and tall!!!" heehee, it only shows how deceptive the camera is

seriously, thank you for your kind words! steph

I would have similar statistics to Natalie and Steph if I could find a tape measure to measure myself. I also have big shoulders and that and my bust are a problem when trying on button downs. I think my measurements are around
36dd
waist about 29-30
hips around 38-39
Im 5fit 6, apple shaped and take shoe size 9 or 40. Its no use for shopping as I live outside the U.S and dont buy similar brands but useful for getting an idea of what styles suit.

I'm waving at you Carole; nice to find a size sister! There are indeed a lot of similarities.

Wholly molley this is one mega thread! So enlightening.

My stats are:

Height - 5'4"
Weight - honestly I don't know. I think probably around 155lbs - 160lbs.
Bust - 34E - still nursing though.
I take a 31 inch waist in jeans and a US 10/12 in clothes, a UK 14/16 and a NZ 12/14
Shoes I take a 39.
I am an hour glass.
I am really short waisted, but have long legs in proportion. I have broad shoulders and a very wide rib cage. I have small hands.
I have thick, curly hair, which is fine rather than course.
Short neck.

I think that I my twin/triplets are Kari, Velvety Chocolate and Kris, although I am shorter than all three.

Kappy and I have similar stats, so I'd say she is my closest body twin, although there are some slight differences. It would be fun to share a closet with you, Kappy.

From reading this, I seem to be closest to Diana and chewyspaghetti. I'm almost 5'4", about 170lb, slight pear, short-waisted, 34d (which sounds big but I look average). I don't post pics but hope to soon once I get the courage up! Should help me rehaul my wardrobe, which is my plan for 2012.

I think I am similar to Brenda, Kelly, and Una, although I can't bring myself to get out the measuring tape! LOL

I didn't see any twins so far but if I've missed you please speak right up!

I'm 5' 71/2", in the mid to high 120's weight wise, with a small/medium frame.
I have long everything- neck, arms, torso, legs, feet.
Small busted.
My measurements last time I did them (which was a while ago) were in the low/mid 30's at the shoulder and hips (same for both) and 28 at the waist.
I think I look most like a rectangle with secondary pear tendencies.
From the side I'm much more curvy- junk in the trunk and very front curved thighs(if that makes sense).
I have size 81/2 feet.
I usually wear a size 4-6/small-medium (Canadian sizing) on both top and bottom halves.

Anyone like me?

What an interesting thread! I recognize Annagybe's concerns, but I want to add that I do believe this is a non-judgemental environment and a supportive group of people so not to worry so much about body concerns.

I have been keeping track of my measurements for the past few years (for online ordering and for sewing) and I have found that more helpful than just weighing. As many of you know, I have gained a lot of weight over the past 2 years -- almost 90 pounds in fact -- due to health-related and medicine issues, and I have found that really hard to adjust to. I am in the process of trying to lose much of that weight for 2012 and hope to be back to close to normal by the end of the year.

These are my measurements (taken last week):
height = 5'6", not telling weight
shoulders = 36" (I think, taken flat then doubled)
bust = 39" (34D-ish)
waist = 36"
hips = 44"
body shape = pear (always a pear, even when slim), but leaning toward apple too. A few people have commented that I look pregnant right now, I'm not.
Size 10 (tops) and 12-14 (bottoms) usually.
My calves are now 16.5" (they used to be 14") so a lot of the weight is in my legs. My thighs are now the size of my old waist. Can't wear my knee boots = PITA!!!
I have long legs (inseam of 32 to 33") and I think I have a short ribs to waist measurement.
Shoe size = 8 US /39 EU.
My measurements from 2009 were: 35-27-37. That's the goal again!

I don't claim the following people are my twins exactly, because I am heavier and I think I don't carry that weight very well (very "Michelin man"). I did see some similarities in the comments by NDmom (Paula), Jayne, Isabel (MA), Katja and Lucylove. I will keep an eye on your posts as I'm sure I can learn from you on how to help dress my current body (which I am still not used to).

Anne, I'm really intrigued by this thread but it's so big I'm a bit confused wading through it and finding where the similarities are. Are you thinking of turning the info into a spreadsheet (or some other easy reference format)?

If not, I was wondering if we should break it up into separate threads (perhaps under the four type umbrellas, so four threads?). So for example my most significant type indicator is pear; I could look under pear and find people both similar and different to me.

That might reduce some of the body dysmorphia triggers too (maybe) - just focusing on our own type (I know it won't eliminate it, but could reduce it perhaps). Just a thought.

I have read with interest and am excited for those who have discovered their twins. I think I'm closest so far to Katja
I'm 5'8", relatively evenly proportioned but apple tendencies (where I put on weight and no waist definition). My legs are long (also in the thighs like Katja) I haven't done the Imogen measurements but keep meaning to. EDIT: I just did it and I'm actually shortest from navel to leg break and longest in my calves? Everything else is almost even. Who knew. Off to figure out what all this means.
34DDD
M or L and 12 in tops (for bust)
10 or 12 in bottoms (I'm smack in the middle for Gap and BR, 10 in AT, have to try both in pant styles) Inseam 32 (for flats or low heels)
Size 10 shoe (is that a 41?) not quite wide but my right foot is almost wide (from an injury) so not narrow

Hi fruitful and everyone. my short answer is that i don't plan to go further with the results but if anyone else would like to do go ahead! i am away from home right now and my internet access isn't easy. should be back with you all next week

I'm really glad I took the time to read through this thread- very helpful info!

clearlyclaire and lyn* seem to be the most similar to me

I'm 5'7" and upper 120s in weight
shoulders: 37"
bust: 34" (maybe a half-inch smaller)
waist: 26"
hips: 38"

shoes: size 7
shirts: xs or s; size 2 or 4 (depending on the brand)
pants/skirts: small; size 4 or 6 (depending on the brand)

I have a long neck and skinny legs, but I'm not sure if I'm long- or short-waisted.

Jewell yes, pretty close!

Nadia, you too are similar in size and shape to Jewell (above) and lyn* (on page 3) and me (on the first page of this post).

It's not an exact match for any of us, but we are definitely in the same range, even if our body types don't match perfectly...we can still share clothes, lol!

I agree that MaryK, Kelly, Una, and I are all similar in build if not in style. Una, everything you listed had me nodding... though I weigh 2-3 lbs more than you. Other than that, we're pretty similar body-wise.

Thanks clearlyclaire!
I missed that on the first read-through.
I'll have to outfit-stalk the three of you and borrow all your great ideas!
(Then maybe I'll actually remember to take pictures and post them. For some reason I tend to forget I own a camera)

I don't have many twins here - mostly due to my height: it makes the same size and measurements to look quite different. I think I am the closest to DeclawedJaguar but a bit slimmer in the torso. My bust is 34C, waist 29-30" and hips 43".
I found it really helpful to know who is relatively your size, height and shape because it does help with things. I know Jonesy and I are close in height and have the same size on top but I am 1 size bigger on the bottom. I also know that she has long legs like mine so when she finds pants or jeans that fit I can more or less safely get the same ones one size up!

I'm late to the party, but I have a special invitation from Claire!

I'm about 5'5" - maybe a tiny bit shorter. I weigh 118-120 but expect to go back up to around 125 once my daughter finished nursing.

Shoulders: 36 (measured around)
Bust: 35.5 (28G/30F but maybe deflating a bit, I hope!)
Underbust: 28
Waist: 27
Hips: 35
Calves are 13.5-14"

I think I'm short waisted with a short rise and short thighs, but my shins are long. Hourglass/Rectangle

I'm not sure that I have a twin. I've read through the whole thread, but nobody's stats really jumped out at me. I hope I find somebody!

Becky

Height- 5'11" Rectangle
Shoulders- 40"
Bust- 35.5"
Under bust- 33.5"
Waist- 33"
Hips- 37"
Calf- 14"
Shoes- 9
Inseam- 34"
weight- 145 lbs
Long waist
Bony throat

I have read this tread and for me the numbers don't worry me as I am not familiar with inches I will take some cm measurements from september 2010 and calculate inches from there. My weight is just about the same as it was back then.

I am 5'2" tall and pearshaped
short neck
ample bosom
short waist
high rise
short legs

Back shoulder width- 36 cm, just over 14"
Bust- 97 cm, just over 38"
Under bust- 82 cm, just over 36"
Natural waist- 82 cm, just over 36"
Waist at navel just over 36,5"
Hips- 108 cm, 42,5"
Calf- 41 cm, 16"
Shoes- 38, which according to google is an American 10
Inseam- about 73 cm, just under 29"

I have posted this picture before but it makes sense to repeat it in this tread.
