UK don't use the same, they use like 6,8,10,12 etc. French and Italian sizes are different, I think the French Ines are the same as the rest of europe or at least most similar to Italian ones. I think i'm a 12 in UK, 40 in France and 46 I think in Italian, can't quite remember my Italian size.

France also differs from what is known as EU size. I wonder if Cezane is using French or EU sizing? I just had a look at their sizing chart and I see UK 12 overlaps with M and L. Tricky!

Do you think they changed the sizing cause you bought them in Japan? I looked at Asian sizes and I'd be XL or 2X- though M here in the US.

I like the espadrilles but would keep looking with the pants. With light colors I go with looser fits in general.

Suntiger, I saw a chart the other day that said a US M is an EU L. Go figure.

Echoing the thoughtful responses already given, I would keep searching for the right trousers. The insubstantial, light colored fabric and cut of the trousers do you no justice. Trousers are by far and away the most difficult item of clothing to get right.

KILLER espadrilles! Very pretty, and a true classic.

Onto the next pair of bottoms for leggy you

I love the espadrilles! Echo what everyone else has said about the pants. You can do better.

Thanks everyone!

With sizing I think some of the newer more "hip" brands probably make their sizing on the small side on purpose. I've ordered things from a few places in recent years, the worst one was a pair of jeans from Nudie which was a 29 waist (I currently, and back then had either 28.5-29 waist) the hips should have been what mine were and seriously at my current weight I can barely get a leg in. I'd have to lose like 3kg and even then they'd still be too small.
I have a pair of Cos trousers and they fit just fine and my denham Jeans I had before I was pregnant and part way through my first pregnancy fit fine. I am about the same weight as pre-pregnancy but perhaps my body shape changed in some way. I ordered the size up (28) from what I had a few years back (27) based on my actual measurements and was a bit tight though I think I'd fit my regular size (29) now so i'll give that a go. Every time I order something I check my exact measurements against their guides and each time they end up being too tight its not even that I'm pulling the tape measure too tight either as its loose enough to move around and for me to breathe.

Perhaps very old or classic brands might have better sizing.

As for Japanese sizing, yes it is much smaller and i'd be XL or XXL here but I feel like some of the western brands are starting to match what i'd be in Japan and I was always a S-M in the UK. Its a little disheartening. My sister said she felt the same that the sizes have changed but it really could just be that we are old now.
