Because my DD wants to have my 15-year, trusty and reliable Kitchenaid stand mixer (it's a real workhorse in my kitchen), my DH bought me a new model for my birthday. Well, I got it home, used it and noticed it was making a strange clicking sound. Because the manual says to call Kitchenaid rather than taking a defective mixer back to the store, that's what I did. They sent me a replacement mixer via FedEx, which I was supposed to unpack and then mail the defective one back in the same box using a prepaid label. Well, it never got to me.
The first thing I did was check everywhere on my property. It wasn't anywhere to be found, so I called FedEx and Kitchenaid to inform them. To make a long story short, it took me until late afternoon yesterday (I made repeated calls each day) to get someone at FedEx to make the driver go back to the house he dropped it off at. I finally got a call after 7 pm last night from the supervisor. The driver claims he dropped the mixer off at my neighbor's house (2 doors down from me--not even close to the same house number) and that my neighbor is denying everything. FedEx has sent 2 people out to my neighbor's house in an attempt to retrieve the mixer, to no avail.
Meanwhile, I took my defective mixer back to the store and exchanged it for another one that works. The store allowed me to get it out of the box and test it before exchanging it.
What I'm miffed about is the slowness of FedEx to get to the bottom of what happened. They said the poor FedEx guy had to go during his free time (not during work time) in his own vehicle to find where he left the mixer. Hello! That's what you have to do when you make a mistake and take an expensive package to the wrong house.
Thanks for letting me vent.
