Person: Several people have been big influences and inspirations (like my mother), but I have to name Stacy London. WNTW is really not worth rewatching, but she gave so MANY of us a firm grounding in style basics, understanding and loving our bodies, and the freedom to build on that however we wished. I also admire her for her frankness about her health and financial issues.

Place: Amsterdam. Greetje led me there, and I was so knocked out by the resident's sense of colour and pattern and texture - and all of it practical enough for riding a bike every day! So inspiring. And the flowers, oh my.

Thing(s): Shoes. Even though my needs and preferences continue to evolve, a great pair of shoes will always lift my spirits, and there will never be a day (I hope) that I stop enjoying them. Even if they are fancy slippers in assisted living.

What fun! I’ll play:

Person: If I can only pick one, it’s definitely my beloved late aunt Sylvia. Her poise, grace and kindness led the way, she always wore a warm smile. Her personal style was fresh, classic, elegant, and to my eye impeccable. Next on my list is Angie for the joy and confidence she exudes; Her wonderful use of bright colors reminds me of my daughter. Therefore, if I could pick a third, it would be my dear daughter, a truly gifted artist with a natural eye for color and a joyful, modern classic yet still obviously artistic type style.

Place: The French Alps…..Grenoble, and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. So picturesque, so much to do outdoors and also indoors, nice shops, historical sites, and the people have a relaxed elegance.

Thing: Cashmere or merino wool sweaters!

Ok, I will try:
Person: Audrey Hepburn
Place: City streets
Thing: Simple dress

I’m in:

Person: INES DE LA FRESSANGES, Love her casual, french chic style.

Place: PARIS AND KOREA, Enjoy their different approaches to the classics.

Thing: JEANS, they go with practically everything and can go anywhere really.

I have learned so much here -- I've been following links to the various people and am awed and wowed by so many of your influences and now of course I want to go shopping at Margaret Howell and wear it all with a je ne said quoi ease like Lucinda Chambers....

And April, that A-linker is amazing!! What a great invention.

Jenni, Camper has mismatched shoes this year: https://www.camper.com/en_CA/w.....201449-002

Oh those are cool Suz! Not my style, but one day I might serendipitously end up with two that are similar enough to do one of each

I have some shoes in two different colorways and am now thinking of mixing up the pairs...

I did that once (accidentally) years ago when I was running an intensive outpatient group for teens. One black bootie, one dark brown. Did not notice until we were seated in our circle under fluorescent lighting.

Mercifully, none of the teens noticed either or I would have been savaged. No one is more verbally abusive than a bunch of teens who have been sent to therapy against their will!

Ok , I am not sure I can narrow down to one, but here goes.

Person: it’s a toss-up between Caroline DeMaigret, Cindy Crawford, and Indiana Jones. Their looks are effortless, practical, and curated-yet-current. Yes, even Indy who looks just like the Banana and Ralph Lauren editorials!

Place: this is difficult! I have favorite places, but none are super fashion-forward. I guess California as a default

Thing: texture! The key ingredient I have found will make or break a look for me. If we are talking thing as in, item of clothing - it would be jackets. So many fabulous jackets and they really can change a basic outfit formula in so many ways.

April, loving the Dutch influence in your life!

Sally and Jenni, with you on how HBC rocks

nemosmom, Indy is a great fashion influence! Practical and effortless but with FLAIR.

What a great thread! Fun to read all the responses. Hard to settle on just one answer, and I'd bet mine change from day to day.

Person: I'll say Emmanuelle Alt. Wonderful, paired-down garçonne style with nods to punk that aren't too literal. And I like how unfussy she is with her hair. Patti Smith is another who always comes to mind. Also Elliot Page! And when I want femininity, I look to the Audreys (Hepburn and Tautou).

Place: Any mountain town, anywhere? Innsbruck, South Lake Tahoe, Cusco... I'll take all of them.

Thing: Hats! I've always been a hat person, always had a substantial collection. I love how they acknowledge the season and set the vibe, and how they combine function and fashion.
