Susie, thanks for the input. I agree that sleeker is better. I may find sleeker boots at much higher price points that work, but I'm thinking the Born is a really good test drive for me. If all goes well this season with incorporating booties into my look, I'll definitely look for a slightly more polished version next year.
April, I just put them on again and did several laps around the house. If I'm understanding the question correctly, there's no rubbing issue from the flap (or anywhere else). The flap is the same leather as the rest of the boot, so it's not a floppy flap. Also, because the shaft is short, it barely touches my shin. Since you like Borns, I will also tell you that I tried the Kyndra too. Ridiculously comfortable. More so than the Jems, but I chose the Jems because I wanted to add polish to jeans for work. If I were a confirmed bootie wearer, I would have kept the Kyndras too (actually I have been resisting sending them back). They have a rounder toe, a smidge of texture to the leather and no shine, so the Jems met my needs better.
